With many well-known beauty tips and claims floating around that have existed for decades, it’s no wonder many of us aren’t sure what is true, and what is false when it comes to our beauty beliefs. From skincare to makeup application, many myths have circulated regarding what truly works and what doesn’t. Here’s busting 5 beauty myths and giving you the facts.

We all want to use beauty and skincare products that work well, and that doesn’t have to mean they break our pocketbooks!

5 Beauty Myths Busted!

  • Expensive cosmetics work better than inexpensive cosmetics. With hundreds of cosmetic brands on the market, good and bad products exist in all price ranges. With beauty products, the ingredients can make or break how the product works when applied. Also, in many cases with more well-known brands, you as the consumer are paying for the brand name more so than the actual cost of the product. Drugstore makeup and skincare lines can indeed work just as well as products purchased at finer stores for a higher cost.
  • You should choose skincare products based on your age. Regardless of your age, fighting the visible signs of aging should start as early as possible. Someone in their 60s can use the same skincare products as a younger person and get the same results. Taking good care of yourself at any age and stage of life is the key to achieving and maintaining healthy, glowing skin.

  • All your skincare products should be from the same brand. Much like applying various cosmetics from different brands works well, the same is true for your skincare products. Many people have been led to believe that your face creams, moisturizers and body lotions should all be from the same line, but you can mix and match brands and get the same positive results. The key is to make sure the skincare products you use contain natural and/or organic ingredients.
  • Your skin adapts to products so they eventually stop working. This beauty myth has existed for years. The truth is, as long as you are applying what is beneficial for your skin type and you are pleased with the results, using the same products daily won’t cause the products to eventually stop working.
  • Foundation with an SPF sunscreen is enough to protect you from the sun. Many foundations and concealers come with an SPF as an ingredient. While this is beneficial, the dosage of SPF in these products isn’t enough to protect your skin from the strong rays of the sun. To get a high protection rate you would need to apply a thick coat of foundation. To keep your skin healthy, soft and supple, always apply a base coat of sunscreen underneath your foundation.

We all want to look and feel our best each day. While many beauty myths exist, a beauty fact is that we all exude a better mood and a positive attitude when we feel good about ourselves.

Developing a daily beauty and skincare routine that works well for you is your best option for maintaining a healthy, glowing, radiant look.  Healthy skin equals happy skin and a happier you!

Many beauty and skincare tips are merely myths! Bust your today!

Ulta Beauty 21-Day Sale! Oh so worth It!

There’s a great reason why Ulta advertises their 21 Days of Beauty as “Beauty’s Biggest Event,” because to cosmetics lovers and beauty gurus, it is!

With so many cosmetic lines available on the market, both walk-in and online stores promoting major sales and price reductions on numerous beauty and skincare items, do you as the consumer really benefit from product sales and gimmicks?

Ulta Beauty Inc. is a chain of beauty stores in the United States, headquartered in Bolingbrook, Illinois. Ulta Beauty carries cosmetics and skincare brands, men’s and women’s fragrances and hair care products. Ulta Beauty has both walk-in and online stores, and all walk-in stores are equipped with a salon.

Twice a year, usually in the months of March and September, Ulta has a 21-day sale where select brands or items give huge discounts for one day. Each day throughout the 21 days has at least two beauty steals, with discounts up to 50% off. Ulta also promotes Hot Buys which run through the entire 21-day sale. Along with the events, you are usually offered Beauty Samplers and Try Me Kits. These deals come from Ulta’s upcoming catalog and their online link. All listed deals are available both in-store and online unless the deal is listed as an online exclusive. Another sales technique used by Ulta is free shipping for Platinum and Diamond members and free shipping with a $50.00 or more purchase for UltaMate members.

For all you fashion and beauty lovers and for those of you that occasionally glam up, is Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty worth the hype? Yes!

Our fascination with cosmetics, skin and hair care products is evident, as the beauty industry racks in billions of dollars in sales annually.

If you receive an Ulta catalog in your mailbox announcing their upcoming 21 Days of Beauty deals and browse the magazine, you’ll see why Ulta’s bi-annual sale benefits both Ulta, and you as the consumer. Leading up to the event, if you actually shop in the store before the sale begins, it’s all too easy to get lured into eyeing not only the beauty items you plan to purchase at that time, but additional items will catch your eye, and you’ll think “Why not? I’ll buy those during the 21-day sale.” There is something about thinking you got a bargain and are spending your hard earned money wisely that makes you feel good and satisfied!

Another way Ulta’s 21-day sale is a success is because if you spread your purchases out over a number of days, you’ll feel like you’re spending less money overall, as opposed to one large purchase in one day. Then by tossing in free shipping for any order over $50.00, you’ll naturally hike your cart price up while you’re shopping, which even though you’ve spent more money, you’re happy because you saved on the shipping!

If you’re someone who buys a large number of cosmetics and beauty products throughout the year, then Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty is a great promotional sale for you. Ulta carries their own brand, as well as a large supply of major brand cosmetic products, so you’ll have numerous makeup, fragrance, skincare and hair care items to choose from. Some people prefer certain brands, while others will mix and match their cosmetic choices, and you have this preference made available to you through Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty. You can buy all your favorite reduced items in one store or on one online website, over a 21 day period.

Don’t miss out on the remaining days of the Ulta Beauty 21-day sale 2021. It’s running from August 29, 2021 through September 19, 2021 so you still have plenty of time to stock up on all your favorite beauty and skincare products for 50% off.  So shop away! Every guy and gal uses skin and hair care products, so you’ll certainly find items you will love and get your money’s worth out of, and save money in the process. Your price reduced purchases will feel like a major success.

We all yearn for glowing, gorgeous, perfect skin, but no matter how much we love the skin that we’re in, we are all prone to occasional breakouts. Even though none of us want bad skin, there are ways to conceal and camouflage dark spots and blemishes to create a look of radiant, healthy skin. It’s all in the makeup application and technique!

Our complexion is important to us and obtaining what resembles perfect skin with makeup requires a working knowledge of color theory, your skin type (dry, oily, normal, combination), and cosmetic formulations. A cover stick will hide a blemish in a different way than a cream foundation, and applying powder over a concealer helps to maintain a look of blemish free skin.

When hiding and covering blemishes, you should use products such as concealers, foundations, cover sticks, and powders. Although makeup can diminish the appearance of blemishes, it doesn’t flatten raised bumps or smooth out flaky skin. If you need to conceal these types of breakouts, apply vaseline to the blemished areas at night before going to sleep, and you’ll see a difference in the redness and size of the bump when you wake up in the morning.

For covering blemishes correctly, the color of the concealer is key. Make sure to use a concealer, foundation, or cover stick in a shade that is identical to, or matches your natural skin tone. For pale, alabaster skin an ivory tone works wonders. For darker skin types use beige, yellow, or a deep tan. Don’t go with white based concealers, as these shades don’t blend well into your natural skin tone and can leave a gray appearance.

When covering dark circles under your eyes, dab a cream concealer and foundation over the dark circles to even out your skin tone and give you a more “awake” look. If you are trying to hide redness or red, inflamed blemishes, too much white won’t achieve your desired results. Yellow toned cosmetics are best for covering red spots and blemishes.

The best tools to use for applying cover-up are brushes, makeup sponges, Q-tips, and your fingertips (provided you have just washed your hands.). If you are using a makeup brush, make sure to use a small brush with a pointed tip. The smaller the brush, the more control you will have over covering the blemish, making it look invisible. A large brush will apply too much cover-up at one time, or extend the makeup over healthy skin. You want to work only on the breakout. Once this is finished, blend the cover-up into your own skin by adding a light translucent face powder. Voila, skin that looks clear, blemish free and oh so pretty!

If you have a large blemish, a press translucent face powder (in the color of your skin tone) on top of the flaw using a makeup sponge or cotton ball will hide the spot. Apply enough powder to cover the blemish and then blend the powder into your clear skin to even it out. When people look at you, the redness of the breakout will be covered, matching your skin tone, and the flaw won’t be noticeable.

Every day we want to put our best foot, and face, forward. Healthy, glowing skin gives you a boost of confidence and a feeling of power. Health and beauty matter, and even though we all deal with pesky blemishes from time to time, an occasional breakout doesn’t have to steal your joy or your sunny mood! Hold your head high with a flawless skin attitude!

Bid blemishes bye-bye!

Have you ever noticed that you may feel upbeat and happy on sunny, warm days, and want to stay in bed on overcast, rainy days? You have Mr. Sun to thank for that. Sunshine provides many benefits to our physical health, mood and mind. Sure, the sun gets a bad rap for causing skin cancer (which isn’t to be taken lightly), fading the paint job on our cars and sometimes causing our bodies to overheat, but for the most part, we adore sunshine. Think days at the beach, picnics and outdoor sporting events. These things are much more pleasant to participate in when the sun is shining.

As long as you remember to wear sunscreen, being out in the sunshine does plenty of good things for your body. Soaking up the sun does wonders for your mind, bones and more, almost immediately.

Benefits of Being in the Sun

• Improved Mood: Getting sun increases serotonin levels and helps you avoid Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). Sun exposure has also been proven to help people with anxiety and depression.

• Increased Vitamin D: Vitamin D helps reduce inflammation in the body, battle fatigue and aids in cell growth. The sun is a great natural source of Vitamin D. It only takes 5 to 15 minutes of sunlight a few times a week to gain the benefits.

• Stronger Bones: The sunlight helps with stronger bones by aiding in the production of Vitamin D, which lowers the risk of osteoporosis. Sunlight, along with calcium, makes for stronger bones and teeth.

• Better Quality Sleep: Do you want a good night’s sleep? Go outdoors in the sunshine and do physical labor. Mow the lawn, plant a garden or wash your car. Melatonin, a chemical in your brain that lulls you into a deep sleep, is produced in higher doses by the sun. Along with serotonin, this can help your body get the sleep it needs. Mix a day in the sun with exercise and your body will thank you by fighting off insomnia naturally.

• Lower Blood Pressure: When sunlight hits your skin, your body releases nitric oxide into your blood. Nitric oxide brings down your blood pressure and improves your heart health. Relaxing also helps to lower your blood pressure, so boost up the sun’s warmth while sitting near a pool or tanning at the beach.

With springtime here and summer approaching, getting your daily dose of sunshine will be easy. By taking the proper precautions and wearing your sunscreen, spending time in the sun will indeed help you keep your “sunny disposition.” We all want to feel healthy and look good, so soak up the sun and enjoy yourself.

Fashion, festivals and fun in the sun! A sure “blues” cure for most everyone.

No where is great skin more important than on our face. We present our face to the world on a daily basis, and clear skin adds to our allure and confidence.

Taking care of our skin is vital for both men and women. To help ensure a flawless, blemish free face, washing the face and applying a strong moisturizer with sunscreen is essential.

How to Prevent Facial Breakouts/Dry Skin/Redness

• Only Wash Your Face Once a Day: Washing the face with a mild soap and warm water removes irritants from your skin. Overwashing will deprive your skin of needed moisture and add to dry skin.
• Use a Gentle Cleanser: Cleansers remove dirt, oil and bacteria, cleaning your pores without drying out your skin.
• Avoid Exfoliation: Often times we hear about the benefits of exfoliating, but this can have visita este sitio aqui a drying effect and irritate the skin, adding to redness. If you do exfoliate, do so occasionally.
• Use Skin Treatment Products With Care: Certain treatments that contain harsh chemicals can burn the skin, causing redness and irritation. Products with retinoids work well. Skincare products containing benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid tend to have a drying effect and should only be applied in small doses.

• Apply Oil-Free Moisturizers With Sunscreen: Moisturizers with sunscreen should be applied immediately after washing your face. Moisturizers soften skin, create a protective layer from harsh weather and help your foundation to stay in place.
• Start Small: Before you try new soaps and skincare products, always start small with the application process, to ensure you don’t have an allergic reaction to the products.

In addition to what you topically apply to your skin, what you feed yourself on the inside is even more important. Protein, vitamins, fruits and vegetables are imperative for healthy, smooth, youthful skin. Drinking adequate amounts of water is also vital for plump, healthy skin.

Gorgeous, glowing skin is radiant and beautiful. Love the skin that you’re in. Whether you prefer a makeup free face or a lovely face highlighted with cosmetics, perfect skin is obtainable. A daily, healthy skincare routine should become an everyday habit. Your skin is worth the effort.

In order to combat the effects of age on your skin, such as wrinkles and sagging skin, developing a daily skincare routine is crucial. In addition to skincare products, for sensual, beautiful skin, proper sleep and nutrition are a must!

Everyone feels good when we save money buying items we want. Whether we get a great deal, purchase products on sale, or use coupons, getting more for our buck is worth it. With the beauty industry being a billion dollar, worldwide business, saving cash on our makeup, skincare, and beauty regimen is a welcome pleasure.

What about the times when the saying “You get what you pay for” is true? There are skincare products and lines that might cost more than other brands for the same product, but spending extra dollars is productive and well worth it. Sometimes more expensive products are made using finer ingredients that bring better results. Your best bet is to know where to put your extra budget to good use.

Skincare Products to Save Money On

• Moisturizers: A daily moisturizer acts as a barrier to your skin from outside elements or the makeup you apply over it. Any moisturizer that hydrates your skin works.
• Face Masks: For basic face masks, lesser quality ingredients will still help soften and radiate your skin. Even homemade masks made from strawberries, honey, oatmeal, and sugar work as well as already made masks you can purchase at stores and salons. If you want an overnight mask, look for the ingredient hyaluronic acid to help keep your skin looking youthful.
• Eye Creams: The more hydrated you keep the skin area around your eyes, the less wrinkles you will get. Dehydration leads to wrinkled, puffy skin. Petroleum jelly rubbed around the eye area before going to sleep works wonders to keep your skin soft and supple. Products containing cucumber and cocoa butter also help eliminate wrinkles and make for inexpensive eye creams that work.

Skincare Products to Spend Money On

• Antioxidants: Preservatives in finer brand antioxidants fight UV rays and air exposure that is harsh on your skin. Also, finer products generally contain a larger amount of antioxidants.
• Sunscreens: High-end sunscreen brands typically use ingredients containing antioxidants. They also tend to be less runny and greasy when applied. However, sunscreen is important, rain or shine, so make sure you use SPF daily.
• Serums: Serums tend to have highly concentrated ingredients that make them thicker than lotions, allowing them to penetrate more deeply into the skin. Ingredients such as green tea, argan oil, and olive oil absorbed into the skin helps battle inflammation and protects against the harsh outdoor elements.

We all want smooth, healthy, supple skin. It’s important to love the skin you’re in. By using skincare products that work, the cost is definitely worth it. Happy skin, happy you!

Spend or Save? Where to invest in your skincare. Whether your complexion is dark, medium or fair, we all look marvelous when we pay attention to what our skin wears!

Youthful, fresh-faced, healthy skin is what we all strive for. You may not be able to stop the passing of time, but you can slow down the effects of natural aging such as wrinkles and frown lines. You don’t need plastic surgery to obtain clear, glowing, younger looking skin. The answer can be as close as your medicine cabinet and makeup bag.

Your skin is an organ that changes through the years. You can take proper care of your skin by nourishing it from the outside with skincare products, and from the inside by eating a nutritious diet rich in fruits, vegetables, proteins and vitamins.

Anti-Aging Skincare Tips That Work

Wash With a Gentle Skin Cleanser: Use a mild face wash that contains essential fatty acids to keep your skin hydrated. Use a light hand, cleansing in gentle, circular motions, as scrubbing the skin too hard can cause irritation and accelerate aging. Harsh cleansers can leave your skin vulnerable to infections.

Chemical Exfoliants: As you age, the skin slows down in replenishing itself, leaving you with skin that looks dull and uneven. Exfoliants remove dead cells from your skin. Chemical exfoliants dissolve the bonds between skin cells, which allows them to detach. Exfoliants such as alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) slow down the aging process and work on all skin types. AHAs are also known for fading uneven skin pigmentation.

Use a Rich Face Cream: Rich face creams nourish your skin by adding moisture, which helps to minimize fine lines and wrinkles. Oil glands become less active as you age, so rich face creams feed your skin with essential oils. Rich face creams trap water against the skin, pumping up deep crevices. Be sure to apply the creams to your neck as well.

Retinoids: As you age skin begins to lose collagen, the protein responsible for keeping skin smooth and lifted. Using a retinoid two to three times a week with the prescription strength of Vitamin A will help your skin stay taut and eliminate sagging.

Moisturize: Aging generally brings the drying of skin. This is good news if you battle oily skin, but dry skin brings premature aging. Applying moisturizing creams helps your skin stay hydrated, leaving you with youthful, glowing skin.

Apply Sunscreen: Although sunshine is glorious, the sun is responsible for much of your skin’s visible signs of aging and damage. The sun’s UV rays break down collagen, leading to thin skin and wrinkles. The sun is also responsible for uneven pigmentation patches. SPF 30 sunscreen can fade age spots, improve skin texture and flatten wrinkles. Look for sunscreens that contain antioxidants to protect the collagen of your skin.

By taking daily care of your skin, you can slow down the effects of time. No matter your age, it truly is possible to love the skin you’re in!

When people look at you, your skin is one of the first things they notice. Be it your face or another area of your body, taking care of your skin and partaking in occasional dermatology visits is a must. Much like looking for any good doctor and/or dentist that works well for you, finding the right dermatologist that is an expert in your skin type, and one who you have a good, confident relationship with, is instrumental for your health

Ideally, you should choose a dermatologist whose specialty meets your needs. Whether your needs are surgical, cosmetic, medical, or a combination, there’s always an expert dermatologist ready to help you. While one dermatologist may focus on skin blemishes such as acne and psoriasis, another dermatologist might perform skin cancer removals.

Before making an appointment with a dermatologist, you should do some background work and verify their credentials. Most dermatologists list their credentials and medical license certification information with the American Academy of Dermatology or the American Board of Dermatology. Much of this information can be located online for easy access. This also allows you to identify the dermatologist’s experience.

Identify dermatologists who work well with your skin type and coloring. Yes, your natural skin color will affect your dermatology needs. Some skin types form pigment easily, so if you have olive skin or a darker complexion, as opposed to fair skin, you may need to find a dermatologist who treats hyperpigmentation. Expertise by skin color and skin type is important when administering scar treatments such as microneedling and lasers.

Make sure to select a dermatologist who you are comfortable with and you feel supports your concerns. Find one who shows an interest in you as a person, as well as your medical/skin issues. As with all doctors, if after the first visit you don’t feel at ease, or you feel like you haven’t made a good connection, shop around until you find a dermatologist that meets your expectations.

Like all medical decisions, you will need to choose a dermatologist who is covered under your insurance plan or will be willing to assist you with a payment plan. Medical care isn’t cheap, and you generally get what you pay for. Most cosmetic surgeries and tattoo removals aren’t covered under insurance.

Learn to love and adore the skin that you’re in.  By developing a healthy daily skin routine and making occasional visits to a dermatologist, glowing, clear, beautiful skin can be yours. Worth it, for sure!
