I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. In my fashion and beauty opinion, the two cosmetic items that are most important to add glamour, allure and magic to the face are mascara and lipstick! If you can only choose two makeup items to put in your cosmetic bag, choose those two and your fabulous face will thank you.

Long, thick, luscious eyelashes area a sign of health and beauty. Long, thick eyelashes not only look beautiful, but they draw out the appeal and allure of your eyes. Your eyelashes are to your eyes what a fabulous frame is to a picture; they highlight the overall look.

An eyelash is one of the hairs that grows at the edge of the eyelid. Eyelashes protect the eye from debris and perform some of the same functions as whiskers do on a cat or mouse, in the sense that they are sensitive to being touched, thus providing a warning that an object (dust, hair, etc.) is near the eye, which then closes reflexively.

Items needed to capture the essence and glamour of long, heathy eyelashes are mascara, an eyelash brush and if preferred, an eyelash curler. If you do use an eyelash curler, don’t press and close the grips too hard, as this can cause eyelashes to pull out.

Mascara Fun Fact: Mascara is a cosmetic commonly used to enhance the eyelashes. Mascara darkens, thickens, lengthens and helps to define the eyelashes. Mascara is available in three forms (liquid, cake, cream), and most contain the basic ingredients of oils, waxes and preservatives.  The thicker the coats of mascara applied, the thicker and more full your eyelashes will look.

For the most dramatic eyelash look of all, jet black mascara outdoes them all. However, colored mascara can be fun to experiment with and wear when you’re feeling unique, magical and whimsical!

Tips for Growing Long, Lush, Healthy Eyelashes:

  1. Vitamin E, Iron, Vitamin B12 – Just like your body, hair needs protein, iron and Vitamin B12 to stay strong and healthy. Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant that adds to healthy hair growth. Eyelashes are hair, so they need to be fed nutrients just like the hair on your head.
  2. Biotin (Vitamin H) – Promotes hair growth, texture and thickness.
  3. Petroleum Jelly – If you remove your mascara before you go to sleep, then apply petroleum jelly to your bare eyelashes and leave on overnight while you sleep, this will help your eyelashes to grow faster, thicker and stronger.
  4. Castor Oil/Olive Oil – These oils help to promote hair growth.
  5. Enriched Mascara – Many mascaras that are available for purchase today include lash boosting serums, botanicals and pro-vitamin enriched formulas.

Bat your eyes in lovely, long eyelashes!

Long eyelashes are considered a sign of beauty in many cultures. Did you know that you can enhance your eyelashes artificially, either by applying false eyelashes or using eyelash extensions? Permanent eyelash tints have also become a popular procedure provided in many salons. It is also possible to get eyelash transplants, which are similar in nature to hair transplantation done on the head. Since the eyelash hair is transported from the head, the new eyelashes will continue to grow.

Eyelash Fun Fact: The invention of the photograph and motion picture launched mascara’s popularity and usage in the United States. Motion pictures advertised a new standard of beauty and sex appeal. Famous actresses of the classic cinema era, such as Theda Bara, Pola Negri, Clara Bow, Greta Garbo, Marlene Dietrich, Bette Davis and Jean Harlow depended heavily on dramatic mascara applications for their glamorized appearances, which the mainstream public began to mimic.

Today, mascara is often used on a daily basis around the world. In 2016 alone, U.S. consumers spent 335.6 million dollars on the top ten leading mascara brands.

Yes, beauty is a billion dollar business!

For the animal lovers out there, eyelashes, being hair, are found on mammals. Camels have eyelashes that are remarkably long and thick. Horses and cows have long eyelashes also. Inherited eyelash problems are common in some breeds of dogs and horses. Not much different than people!

Eyelash Fun Fact: The average eyelash takes about seven to eight weeks to grow back if pulled out, and constant pulling may lead to permanent damage, stunting hair growth.

Eyelashes bedazzling and beguiling being lush, lovely, luxurious and long are truly a fashion and beauty bomb!

“Baby, baby, baby, bat your lovely, lush, long eyelashes at me.”

“I’m flattered you’re admiring my luxurious eyelashes, you see.”

“Are your eyelashes naturally that long, or could your lashes be fake?”

“These are my own lashes coated with mascara. Black mascara takes the cake.”

“Your extra long lashes add to the allure, appeal and attractiveness of your eyes.”

“Yes. The longer the lashes, the larger your eyes appear in size.”

Long Eyelashes: A true beauty masterpiece!

Grunge fashion is the clothing, accessories and hairstyles of the grunge music genre and subculture which emerged in mid-1980s Seattle, and had reached wide popularity by the early 1990s. Embraced by Generation X as anti-fashion, grunge contrasts from the flashy excessiveness of the 1980s. Grunge fashion is characterized by durable and timeless thrift-store clothing, often worn in a loose, androgynous manner to de-emphasize the human physique/silhouette.

The grunge style of clothing was popularized by music artists Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love and Pearl Jam.

Grunge Fun Fact: The term grunge was adopted by the music industry for a style of music that had become widely popular in the American northwest during the early 1990s. The term grunge first appeared in 1972, but it didn’t become a used term in widespread media until the late 1980s, influenced by the surge and decline of punk. This view made its mark on the youth of the time and translated into their choice of fashion.

The grunge fashion look started out as a combination of male and female fashion, consisting of mundane everyday clothing that could be worn everywhere. Grunge consisted of such garments as oversized striped sweaters, ripped jeans, converse tennis shoes, and unkempt hair. As grunge fashion entered the mainstream, flannel shirts and Doc Martens boots were worn as anti-fashion statements.

Grunge clothing returns with fashion action!

In women’s fashion in the 1990s, less was more and dressing down was an acceptable norm. For shoes, women started wearing clunky combat boots and Doc Martens. They typically wore slip dresses with flannels, flannels and ripped jeans, and plaid garments in layers. The clothing was paired with simple jewelry such as chokers and hoop earrings, along with dark, rich colored lipsticks. Bell bottom jeans from the 1970s came back into grunge fashion, along with baby doll T-shirts. When flannels were worn, they were oversized or tied around the waist. Hairstyles included the half-up, half-down style, and messy hair highlighted the grunge look.

Grunge Fun Fact: Fashion designer Marc Jacobs was the first designer who brought grunge to the luxury platform. In 1992, Jacobs, as the creative director of women’s design at Perry Ellis, debuted a spring collection that was inspired by grunge. The collection included some iconic grunge lines such as flannel shirts, printed grassy dresses, Doc Martens boots and knitted skullcaps. This collection became a badge of cool to the grunge culture. A few years later in 1997, Jacobs joined the French luxury brand Louis Vuitton.

Grunge clothing as a true fashion statement marches on!

Grunge Fun Fact: Grunge in men’s fashion is popular and making a mainstream comeback. Grunge is influenced by disheveled and androgynous thrift-store clothing, defined by a looseness that de-emphasizes the body’s shape. The male grunge look consists of second hand or shabby T-shirts with slogans, band logos, etc. A plaid shirt generally accompanies the T-shirt, along with ripped or faded jeans. Black combat style boots top off the outfit. Basically, the clothing is inexpensive, durable and timeless. It also runs against the grain of the flashy aesthetics in fashion that existed in the 1980s.

Grunge fashion is pure fashion fun for all generations…fashion king and queens everyone!

Grunge Today: According to a 2013 Today magazine article, the 1990s grunge is making a comeback after New York Fashion Week (NYFW), when designers shared their interpretations of Seattle’s early 1990s boho chic. This led to grunge fashion appearing in shopping malls and grunge inspired back to school looks, helping to bring the grunge look back in style today.

As fashion and music often mix, much like models and rock stars often marry, grunge fashion was born from the grunge subculture of alternative rock during the mid 1980s. The early grunge movement revolved around Seattle’s independent record label Sub Pop, and that region’s underground music scene. By the early 1990s, the popularity of grunge music had spread, with grunge bands appearing in California, then emerging in other parts of the United States and Australia, building strong followings and signing major record deals.

A byproduct of grunge music? A passion for wearing grunge fashion!

From haute couture to grunge…there is no denying that dressed down, comfortable, non-conforming grunge fashion can appeal to everyone!

“I love your ensemble of loose fitted clothes and ripped up jeans.”

“Whether I’m dressed for the Oscars or dressed in grunge, I am a fashion queen!”

“You carry the grunge style off as if the look is timeless and effortless.”

“I adorn myself in grunge in either flannels, skirts and boots or a baby doll dress.”

“My tastes tend to run more dressy and upscale. I doubt the grunge look will work on me.”

“Anyone can acclimate their style to the recognizable grunge look. Try it and see!”

Grunge: An off-beat, trendy mode of dress that works for everyone, is stylish and fun!

It makes no difference if your hair length preference is long or short, there is no denying that sleek, silky, straight hair looks fabulous! Lustrous, smooth, straight hair frames all face shapes and wears well with all types of clothing and garments. Even hats!

What exactly is this “hair” that we all love and crave and spend so much time washing, drying, styling and cutting? Hair is a protein filament that grows from follicles found in the dermis. Hair is one of the defining characteristics of mammals. The human body, apart from areas of glabrous skin, is covered in follicles which produce thick terminal and fine vellus  hair. Most common interests in hair is focused on hair growth, hair types and hair care, but hair is also an important biomaterial primarily composed of protein, notably alpha-keratin.

Curls are glorious and represent a girl with her sugar and spice, but straight, sensuous, sexy hair always looks nice!

For a knock-out look that will bang one out of the park, wispy or blunt bangs worn with straight hair look youthful, playful and fabulous!

Hair Fun Fact: The word “hair” usually refers to two distinct structures: the hair follicle (the part beneath the skin), and the hair shaft, which is the hard filamentous part that extends above the skin surface. Hair fibers have a structure consisting of several layers, starting from the outside: the cuticle, the cortex and the medulla.

Each and every strand of hair is made up of the cuticle, cortex and medulla.

Silky straight hair, when flowing down the back, can cause an eye popping, alluring heart attack! Sheer straight beauty.

How do you obtain straight hair, especially if your hair tends to be naturally wavy or curly?

Three Ways to Straighten Your Hair:

  1. Using a hot iron or flat iron
  2. Using a blow dryer or hair dryer
  3. Using natural ways

Hot irons work well because they provide heat, and heat acts as a hair straightener. If you take small sections of your hair, and run the hot/flat iron down each section from the scalp to the ends, your hair will obtain the silky straight texture that you are trying to create.

Hair dryers and blow dryers work much the same way. If you take a sturdy, good styling brush and place the blow dryer on your roots, then take the brush the entire way down to your ends, keeping the blow dryer moving along with the brush, your hair will automatically straighten. This is why if your hair is damp and wavy, applying heat from the blow dryer and continually brushing the hair, the waves will be removed.

For cost effective flat irons and blow dryers that work magical hair wonders, why not try one of these items?

KIPOZI Professional Titanium Flat Iron Hair Straightener with Digital LCD Display ,Dual Voltage,Instant Heat Up(1.75 inch wide, black)

Magnifeko 1875W Professional Hair Dryer with Ionic Conditioning – Powerful, Fast Hairdryer Blow Dryer – 2 Speeds, 3 Heat Settings

For hair that is sure to mesmerize and illuminate, go straight!

Straight Hair Fashion Tip: For those of you with brittle or damaged hair, you can still obtain glamorous, silky, straight tresses naturally! Good news!

  1. Brush wet hair until it dries.
  2. Wrap wet hair tightly. You can wrap your wet hair in a silk scarf and sleep on it to reduce frizz.
  3. Roll your hair. This works with large rollers. Let your hair dry completely before you remove the rollers, then brush.
  4. Ponytails. Divide damp hair into two low ponytails, then add additional elastics every inch or so down the ponytail to hold the hair together. When the hair is dry, remove the ponytails and elastic. Brush to straighten.
  5. Twist hair into a bun. Wrap damp hair into a bun and don’t cover…let your hair air dry, the brush out.

To all of these methods, add a few drops of sweet almond or coconut oil to tame frizz and smooth out the look. For selfie or magazine ready hair, spray hair gloss over the hair. Beautiful, alluring and easy hair care!

Straight hair is chic, stylish, trendy and classy, for a head of hair that mixes sweet school girl with savvy and sassy!

Four Types of Hair Classifications:

  1. Straight Hair
  2. Wavy Hair
  3. Curly Hair
  4. Kinky Hair

Whatever your natural hair type, yes, attractive all, even kinky, wavy and curly hair can be styled for a straight fall.

Sleek, straight hair for the long and short of it!

“Your hair is so straight and soft. May I run my fingers through your tresses?”

“You can look but don’t touch. Would you want me pawing all your dresses?”

“I would think hair that straight would look thin, but your hair is thick and full.”

“My hair is also chic, shiny and glimmering….never breaking, dry or dull.”

“Is your hair naturally straight or do you style it to fall luxuriously straight down?”

“I use a flat iron strand by strand for a hairstyle that works in business and around town.”

Straight Hair: A classic hairstyle that needs no explanation…either for the long or short of it!

Have you ever felt your face get hot and noticed that your cheeks got pink when you were embarrassed or shy? That’s called blushing, and just about everybody does it from time to time! Blushing is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system. This is the same bodily system that controls the panic ‘fight-or-flight’ response. Blushing is an involuntary reaction, which means your body does it without you even thinking about it. You can thank a hormone called adrenaline.
While being shy or embarrassed and thereby blushing isn’t preferred, the rosy glow that blushing puts on your cheeks has been greatly admired for centuries. The answer? Cosmetics, of course. One can obtain the same pretty glow to their cheeks through makeup using blush or rouge, without the agony of the embarrassment to getting a natural blush!
Ah, the never ending joys of makeup!

Portrait of a pretty woman with an expressive emotion

Cosmetics are substances or products used to enhance or alter the appearance or fragrance of the body. Many cosmetics are designed for use of applying to the face and hair. They are generally mixtures of chemical compounds; some being derived from natural sources such as coconut oil and some being synthetics (man made ingredients).
Blush/Rouge Fun Fact: Blush or rouge is a type of cosmetic put on the cheeks, usually in red, pink or orange tones. Blush comes in both powder and cream forms. Blush was first used by Egyptians in 3000 BC. In the 1800s, wearing cosmetics made people think a woman had bad character, so people would pinch their cheeks to make them red. Ah, what true fashion divas go through for glamour!

Blush/Rouge Fun Fact: Blush/rouge was used in ancient Egypt. In addition to being applied to the cheeks, blush was also applied to the lips, the way lipstick is used today. In some times and places, such as the English Regency, both men and women wore blush. Various substances have been used as blush. In ancient Greece, crushed mulberries were favored, while red beet juice, crushed strawberries and red amaranth have also been used.
Modern blush/rouge generally consists of red-colored talcum based powder that is applied with a brush or makeup sponge to the cheeks. The coloring is usually either the substance of safflor (the petals of safflower) or a solution of carmine in ammonium hydroxide and rosewater perfumed with rose oil.
A brush of blush for rosy rouged cheeks!

Popular Types of Blush/Rouge:

  1. Pressed Powder: The majority of blushes found in drugstores or high-end stores are in the form of pressed powder. These work well for oily skin. Pressed powder blushes last long on the skin, are easily blended and very buildable.
  2. Cream: Cream blushes usually come in a short, round container, much like lip balm or solid perfume. These blushes are best suited for people with dry skin.
  3. Mineral Baked: Mineral baked blushes are made from a liquid that is baked into solid form. Mineral baked powder is very sheer when applied, but it is buildable and can be a perfect choice for someone who is going for a more flushed, natural look.

Preferred Blush/Rouge Brushes and Applicators:

  1. Flat Brush: The type of brush included with may purchased blushes. This brush is used to achieve a more dramatic look, as this type of brush is not well suited for blending.
  2. Fluffy Brush: Suitable for dispersing the color of the blush, creating a natural flushed look.
  3. Pancake Sponge Pad: This type of applicator is found with many talcum and translucent face powders.
  4. Stippling Brush: Suitable for softening the harsh lines and blending together blush, bronzer and highlighter. The stippling brush works well for applying cream blush.

Your glowing rosy cheeks look stunning and bold, not wallflower and meek! Cosmetic truth be told!

In addition to blush, common cosmetics include lipstick, mascara, eye shadow, eyeliner, foundation, concealer, skin cleansers, skin lotions, shampoo, cream rinse, hairstyling products, perfume and cologne.
The cosmetics list is long…the glamour, allure and defining of cosmetics is gorgeous and strong!

Cosmetics Fun Fact: In the United States, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which regulates cosmetics/makeup, defines cosmetics as “intended to be applied to the human body for cleansing, beautifying, promoting attractiveness, or altering the appearance without affecting the body’s structure or functions.”
Make no mistake…when applied to perfection, makeup takes the cake!

The miracle of blush? It reddens the cheeks, defines the cheekbones and adds to a healthy, youthful appearance!
“I’d tell you that your rosy, high cheekbones look divine but that might make you blush.”
“I take a well deserved compliment with style. If you like my glow you don’t need to stay hushed.”
“Are your rosy cheeks natural or is a slight touch of blush swiped on your face?”
“A true fashion diva never tells her secrets. It adds to her appeal and grace.”
“Whether natural or cosmetic, your pink, defined cheeks truly stand out.”
“And that, my dear, is what cosmetics, makeup and blush is all about.”
Blush/Rouge: Excellent for the shimmery, rosy, perky, happy cheekbone attitude!

Boho Chic is a style of fashion that draws strong on bohemian (applied to people who live unconventional, artistic lives) and hippie influences. The boho chic mode of dress has become popular in mainstream culture since the early 1990s, and although appearing to wane from time to time, has repeatedly resurfaced in varying guises. Many elements of boho chic came into fashion in the late 1960s. Flower power, flower child, flower festive!
Boho Chic can consist of layered apparel, ruffly floral skirts, boots, floppy hats, flowing materials, giving off a look of bohemian, nomadic, spirited, gypsy, sexy, youthful and delightful! Fun, flowery style!

Boho Chic Fun Fact: Boho is an abbreviation of Bohemian Homeless, self descriptive of the style. The word ‘chic’ was borrowed from the French in the late 19th century and has come to mean stylish or elegant.
The boho look, which owes much to the hippie styles that developed in the middle to late 1960s, became especially popular at actress Sienna Miller’s appearance at the Glastonbury Festival in 2004, although some of its features were apparent from photographs taken of her in October 2003, and others living in or around the postal district of W10 (North Kensington), an area of London associated with bohemian culture since the mid-1950s.

Influence and Exponents in the Forward Move of the Boho Chic Look:
Many fashionistas attribute the boho chic look to supermodel Kate Moss. In April 2004, the British born fashion writer Plum Sykes was quoted as saying of a lynx mini-top, “Very cool, very bohemian, very Kate Moss-y.” In 2006, Times fashion editor Lisa Armstrong described a plaited leather belt as a “Boho ‘Kate’ Belt.” Actress Sienna Miller carried off the boho chic look that brought it into mainstream: even in the advertisements for Chloe early in 2005, Miller was shown as if casually shopping, while she told Vogue that she had a laid-back approach to grooming, including cutting her own hair.
In 2008 the Sunday Times applied the term “real chic” to a group of “the chicest celebrities”, including Sienna Miller and actresses Julie Christie and Marion Cotillard, who “handle the glare of fame with a large dose of reality”, with Sienna Miller being described as “a professional free spirit who seems to have more fun than anyone else.”

Boho Chic: Free spirit, festive, flared, fashionable fun!
Boho Chic: A trending look that works any day of the week!

The impact of boho chic illustrated certain broader trends in what was referred to as “the way we dress now,” with fashion being increasingly dictated not by fashion houses, but by the “famous and fashion forward”, of which Kate Moss, Lindsay Lohan and Sienna Miller were exemplars. Once the public spotted these new fashions, young women weren’t prepared to wait a season for the clothes to become available in stores, and the familiar boundaries between summer wear and the garments for autumn and winter were blurred. The practice of the fashion houses meeting such high clothing demands became known as “fast fashion.”
Ramp up your boho chic fashion spirit with layered, flowing, flowery garments. A sure fire look that is sure to last!

Boho Chic: The “beat” generation meets flower power!
Boho Chic Fun Fact: By the spring of 2005, boho chic was almost ubiquitous in parts of London and was invading stores in almost every British high street. Features included floaty skirts (notably long, white skirts), furry gilets, embroidered tunics, cropped jackets, large faux-coin belts, sheepskin (UGG) boots and cowboy boots, baggy cardigan sweaters and hobo bags. Footless tights and leggings were a contributory factor in the halving of sales of stockings in Britain between 2003 and 2007.
Boho Chic is a real eye catching, fashion treat!

Boho Chic became a popular staple in childrens’ fashion trends. Many parents embraced the boho chic trends and elements to create and purchase apparel for their children. This particular trend is inspired by the casual American fashion of the late 1960s, but as the counterculture included the influence of earlier time periods in its eclectic embrace of style and personal values, it often includes hints of the Victorian, a nod to the fabrics and details of the 1940s, or an homage to the intellectuals of the 1950s.
Boho Chic: A look of free spirited, dainty, elegant and sweet!

Boho Chic, hippie chic, gypsy chic, festive chic or dainty chic, there is no doubt that the bohemian, boho look is sensationally chic!
“Your look is light and airy, ready to dance into the sunset, whimsical and fun.”
“This is my boho chic look. It works for casual, sporty and festive events, or when I’m on the run.”
“I love the long lace skirt, cowboy boots, numerous chains and the flower in your hair.”
“It seems when dressed boho chic I get many looks and compliments, people stop and stare.”
“I adore your rhinestone hair chain and the long earrings that set off the boho look.”
“I suggest you dress boho chic yourself. You’ll get sold on the garments and hooked.”
Boho Chic: Change up your signature look and be boho chic unique!

Polka dot materials are pleasant, playful and pretty. They are also “spot” on in current fashion!  Polka dot is a pattern consisting of an array of large filled circles (discs). Polka dots differentiate from a general spot pattern as polka dots are perfectly even in shape and size, while spots can be irregular in spacing and size (although many people refer to spotted garments as polka dotted).
Many modern polka dot prints include more randomly spaced, sized and colored dots. Polka dots became common on clothing in the late 19th century in the United Kingdom.
Polka dots will remain a garment rated number one until kingdom come!

Polka Dot Fun Fact: The polka dot pattern rarely appears in formal clothing contexts and is generally confined to a more playful attire such as bathing suits and lingerie. Polka dots also make a spotted splash on summery skirts, dresses, shorts and stockings, perfect to wear when running or walking!
The term ‘polka dot’ originated in popularity from the polka dance which was big at the time the polka dot pattern became fashionable. Traditionally polka dots are used in clothing of flamenco dancers and performers due to their stylish flair and festive fun vibration!

Polka Dot Fabulous Fun Facts Featuring Performers:

  1. Frederic Bazille’s 1867 painting Family Reunion depicts two women in blue polka dot dresses.

In the realm of jewelry and accessories in fashion, belts are one of the best items to decorate and dress up an outfit. Yes, belts do much more than merely hold your pants up! Perhaps the loveliest of all belts is the chain belt.
A belt is a flexible band or strap, typically made of leather or a heavy cloth, and worn around the waist, or sometimes directly under the rib cage. Chain belts are typically made from precious metals, mainly gold and silver. Platinum, palladium and steel may also be used. These metals are used because they keep their intricate shape and strength, and require minimal maintenance to keep their lustrous shine.

Chain belts and body chains are designed mainly for aesthetic purposes.
Popular Types of Jewelry Chains:

  1. Byzantine: An intricate chain that can be made by the hobbyist from jump rings.
  2. Figaro: A number of standard chain links precede an elongated link all the way through.
  3. Rolo: Round links joined in a simple alternating sequence.
  4. Rope: Rope chain creates the effect of two twisting strands spiraled together, created by many small links which are not completely joined.
  5. Singapore: Links are joined in such a way that even when the chain is untwisted, there is a natural curve to it.
  6. Trace: The simplest chain. The links are uniform in breadth and thickness.
  7. Twisted: The links are joined to where the chain has a twisted look.
  8. Wheat: Long, thin teardrop-shape links that all point in the same direction.

A chain belt around the waist shows off your exquisite fashion taste!
Chain Belt Fun Fact: Chain belts are often made from “fancy” chains, which can be any form of fine metal that can be replicated and joined onto each other to make a chain. Many fancy chains are variations of the standard styles, for example a trace chain formed of heart-shaped links or a curb chain with every other link set with a gemstone.
Bead chains are another popular choice for chain belts. A bead chain is formed of small balls of metal joined by small lengths of wire, not longer than each bead in between.
Chic in chain belts: would I yank your fashion chain?

Chain belts look gorgeous and can doll up a casual outfit or add extra elegance and pizzazz to ritzy, evening attire.
Belt Fun Fact: Belts have been documented as male clothing since the Bronze Age. However, both genders have used belts depending on the current fashion. In the Western world, belts were more common for men, with the exception of the early Middle Ages, late 17th century Mantua, and skirt/blouse combinations between 1900 and 1910. Today, belts are as popular for women as for men, often worn with skirts, dresses and pants.

Other Popular Types of Chains:

  1. Anchor
  2. Belcher
  3. Briolette
  4. Curb
  5. Herringbone
  6. Prince of Wales
  7. Snake
  8. Spiga

With so many types of chains to choose from, and so many styles of belts, you can find a beautiful chain belt for any occasion, ranging from wide to svelte.

Chain Jewelry Fun Fact: In addition to making fabulous belts, chain jewelry is made to encircle parts of the body, namely the neck, wrists and ankles, and they also serve as points to hang decorative charms or pendants.
Make great fashion gains wearing elegant, stunning, chic chains!
“I never knew chain that resembles a chain link fence can look so pretty and chic.”
“Yes, the wide chain links on my belt look large and open,  but also sleek.”
“I love the way the layers of chain drape slinky around your waist and over your hips.”
“Did you notice the way I matched my gold chain belt with the gold lip gloss on my lips?”
“And the gold nail polish on your fingernails and your perfectly polished toes.”

For most high schoolers, May is the month of gearing up to study for finals, planning summer vacations and celebrating that the school year is coming to a close by attending the famous dance known as “prom.”
A prom is a semi-formal (black tie) dance or gathering of high school students. The prom is typically held near the end of the junior and senior year. Proms figure greatly in popular culture and are major events among high school students. The event is often a combined junior/senior dance.
A popular tradition at prom, besides exchanging corsages and boutonnieres, are formal, gorgeous, glorious dresses and gowns to be worn by the females.

Prom Fun Fact: At a prom, a Prom King and Prom Queen may be revealed. These are honorary titles awarded to students elected in a school-wide vote prior to the prom, and these titles are generally awarded to seniors. Other students may be honored with inclusion in a “Prom Court.” The Prom King and Prom Queen are often given crowns to wear. Members of the Prom Court may be given sashes to wear and photographed together.
In the early days of high school proms, the nighttime dance served a function similar to a debutante ball. Early proms were times of firsts: the first adult social event for teenagers; the first time taking the family car or fancy limousine out after dark; the first real dress up affair, etc., similar to a milestone event such as a First Holy Communion or a wedding.

Prom Fun Fact: Usage of the term ‘prom’ is becoming more common around the world and appears to be a colloquial and regional practice. Formal English usage suggests “Prom” is a noun and should be preceded by an article, although it is often not a practice. “Prom” is a shortened version of promenade.
Popular Prom Attire:

  1. Girls wear traditional ladies’ dresses or evening gowns and adorn themselves with fancy jewelry such as earrings and a necklace. Girls often wear perfume, makeup, lipstick and blush. Girls also wear a corsage (either wrist or pin-on) given to them by their prom dates. Many times girls have their hair professionally styled for their big night.
  2. Boys often dress in black or white formal wear, sometimes paired with ties or bow ties with vests, in some cases in colors matching their date’s dress. Boys are given matching boutonnieres to be worn on their lapels by their dates.

Prom Fun Fact: After the prom, parents or a community may host a “prom after-party” at a restaurant, entertainment venue or a student’s home. Other traditions often include trips to nearby attractions, such as amusement parks, regional or local parks, or family or rented vacation houses. Some of these post-prom events are chaperoned and some are unsupervised. Most after-prom events are held at the school, and involve bringing entertainment such as interactive games, artists and other entertainers to the school.
Always follow the golden rule: dress off the charts glam for the Prom held at school!
Prom Fun Fact: The concept of extending prom to homeschooled students has increased in recent years. Although some school districts in the United States and Canada allow homeschool students to attend prom in the school district where they reside, many homeschool groups also organize their own proms. Some states, such as Oregon, Ohio, Georgia, Tennessee and Michigan also host statewide homeschool proms, which any homeschool student is welcome to attend. Glorious!
Primped and poised for a perfect prom!

Although all of these prom dresses are beautiful, I am particularly fond of this off-the-shoulder, sleek dress in the baby doll pink. I love the dainty look, the silk fabric and the mermaid style cut! Stunning!
The custom of the high school prom exists in many parts of the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Africa, Asia, the Honduras, Peru, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago and most Caribbean countries, Uruguay and many others.
Prom Fun Fact: While high school year books didn’t start covering proms and including prom pictures until the 1930s and 1940s, historians believe proms have existed in high schools as early as the 19th century. The prom has since taken on a larger-than-life meaning for high school students.

As people gained more money and leisure time, proms have become more extravagant and elaborate. Junior and senior proms are often held at hotel ballrooms and country clubs, as opposed to the school gymnasium. Where arriving in a compact or standard car was once acceptable, luxury cars and limousines often transports high schoolers today. In some ways, the prom has become the pinnacle of high school events in a student’s life.
Be prom smart, dress the stylish, fashionable, gorgeous, sensational part!
Step into an evening of the high life…dress and dance away the stress and strife of homework and daily life.
“I find you to be extremely caring and nice.”
“I fit the stereotype of  a girl? Made of sugar and spice?”
“I would be honored  if you would accompany me to the Prom as my date.”
“I’m thrilled to accept your invitation. I’m excited and can hardly wait.”
“When you select your gown let me know the colors so we can match.”
“We’ll make a fabulous, fashionable pair. With you I have a great catch!”
Dress prom perfect: Steal the fashion scene from the king and queen!
