Grunge fashion is the clothing, accessories and hairstyles of the grunge music genre and subculture which emerged in mid-1980s Seattle, and had reached wide popularity by the early 1990s. Embraced by Generation X as anti-fashion, grunge contrasts from the flashy excessiveness of the 1980s. Grunge fashion is characterized by durable and timeless thrift-store clothing, often worn in a loose, androgynous manner to de-emphasize the human physique/silhouette.

The grunge style of clothing was popularized by music artists Kurt Cobain, Courtney Love and Pearl Jam.

Grunge Fun Fact: The term grunge was adopted by the music industry for a style of music that had become widely popular in the American northwest during the early 1990s. The term grunge first appeared in 1972, but it didn’t become a used term in widespread media until the late 1980s, influenced by the surge and decline of punk. This view made its mark on the youth of the time and translated into their choice of fashion.

The grunge fashion look started out as a combination of male and female fashion, consisting of mundane everyday clothing that could be worn everywhere. Grunge consisted of such garments as oversized striped sweaters, ripped jeans, converse tennis shoes, and unkempt hair. As grunge fashion entered the mainstream, flannel shirts and Doc Martens boots were worn as anti-fashion statements.

Grunge clothing returns with fashion action!

In women’s fashion in the 1990s, less was more and dressing down was an acceptable norm. For shoes, women started wearing clunky combat boots and Doc Martens. They typically wore slip dresses with flannels, flannels and ripped jeans, and plaid garments in layers. The clothing was paired with simple jewelry such as chokers and hoop earrings, along with dark, rich colored lipsticks. Bell bottom jeans from the 1970s came back into grunge fashion, along with baby doll T-shirts. When flannels were worn, they were oversized or tied around the waist. Hairstyles included the half-up, half-down style, and messy hair highlighted the grunge look.

Grunge Fun Fact: Fashion designer Marc Jacobs was the first designer who brought grunge to the luxury platform. In 1992, Jacobs, as the creative director of women’s design at Perry Ellis, debuted a spring collection that was inspired by grunge. The collection included some iconic grunge lines such as flannel shirts, printed grassy dresses, Doc Martens boots and knitted skullcaps. This collection became a badge of cool to the grunge culture. A few years later in 1997, Jacobs joined the French luxury brand Louis Vuitton.

Grunge clothing as a true fashion statement marches on!

Grunge Fun Fact: Grunge in men’s fashion is popular and making a mainstream comeback. Grunge is influenced by disheveled and androgynous thrift-store clothing, defined by a looseness that de-emphasizes the body’s shape. The male grunge look consists of second hand or shabby T-shirts with slogans, band logos, etc. A plaid shirt generally accompanies the T-shirt, along with ripped or faded jeans. Black combat style boots top off the outfit. Basically, the clothing is inexpensive, durable and timeless. It also runs against the grain of the flashy aesthetics in fashion that existed in the 1980s.

Grunge fashion is pure fashion fun for all generations…fashion king and queens everyone!

Grunge Today: According to a 2013 Today magazine article, the 1990s grunge is making a comeback after New York Fashion Week (NYFW), when designers shared their interpretations of Seattle’s early 1990s boho chic. This led to grunge fashion appearing in shopping malls and grunge inspired back to school looks, helping to bring the grunge look back in style today.

As fashion and music often mix, much like models and rock stars often marry, grunge fashion was born from the grunge subculture of alternative rock during the mid 1980s. The early grunge movement revolved around Seattle’s independent record label Sub Pop, and that region’s underground music scene. By the early 1990s, the popularity of grunge music had spread, with grunge bands appearing in California, then emerging in other parts of the United States and Australia, building strong followings and signing major record deals.

A byproduct of grunge music? A passion for wearing grunge fashion!

From haute couture to grunge…there is no denying that dressed down, comfortable, non-conforming grunge fashion can appeal to everyone!

“I love your ensemble of loose fitted clothes and ripped up jeans.”

“Whether I’m dressed for the Oscars or dressed in grunge, I am a fashion queen!”

“You carry the grunge style off as if the look is timeless and effortless.”

“I adorn myself in grunge in either flannels, skirts and boots or a baby doll dress.”

“My tastes tend to run more dressy and upscale. I doubt the grunge look will work on me.”

“Anyone can acclimate their style to the recognizable grunge look. Try it and see!”

Grunge: An off-beat, trendy mode of dress that works for everyone, is stylish and fun!

Whether you’re wearing a boot, giving someone ‘the boot’, or unclamping a boot from your car wheel, make no bones about it, the boot is a popular item! In the realm of fashion and style, a sure fire way to boot up your closet with an ideal fashion boost is by adding a knock-out, gorgeous, sensual pair of thigh high boots!

A boot is a type of footwear and a specific type of shoe. Most boots mainly cover the foot and the ankle, while some also cover some part of the lower calf, the knee and on up the thigh. I’ve even seen some over-the-top boots that extend up the hip. How hip is that boot?

Ah, the eye turning, eye catching, eye popping boot wonder that is known as the thigh high boot!

Thigh high boots, known also as thigh length boots or simply thigh boots, are boots that extend above the knee to at least mid-thigh. Other terms for this stunning footwear include over-the-knee boots, and especially when cuffed, pirate boots. Lengths vary from reaching just over the knee to reaching almost to the crotch (referred to as crotch boots or crotch high boots).

Thigh High Boots Fun Fact: Thigh high boots are made of materials ranging from various leathers to various synthetic materials (including vinyl, polyurethane or latex), to various fabrics such as silk or polyester microfiber. Many are constructed with zippers, but some are designed as pull on boots. Heel heights vary, but most styles are with heels greater than 3 inches (7.5cm). Heel styles vary from metal spikes to chunky or platform soles.

There is no other footwear on the fashion market as daring, bold, beautiful and provocative as a stiletto heeled thigh high boot!

Does the va va voom vixen in you silently wish to wear thigh high boots, but you’re too meek to show them off? Make this the year of giving in to the true fashion diva that you are, no matter anyone’s opinion, no matter if you’re walking or riding in a car!

Thigh High Boot Fun Fact: Laced leather boots were fashionable for women throughout the Victorian period. In the world of women’s fashion, thigh high boots run through cycles of both popularity and design. As referenced by many authors, the popularity of the motion picture Pretty Woman hurt the credibility of thigh high boots being worn as wardrobe staples. Nevertheless, in any fall fashion season, at least one or more designers and retailers will take a chance on the thigh high boot’s magnetic appeal and showcase the vixen thigh high boot.

The price for these exquisite boots can be very high, particularly at retail boutiques, but will vary more than for couture designs.  The boots run up the thigh, the price may be sky high, but the fabulous boot is always worth your fashion try!

Boot Fun Fact: Early boots consisted of separate leggings, soles and uppers worn together to provide greater ankle protection than shoes or sandals. Around 1000 BC, these components were more permanently joined to form a single unit that covered the feet and lower leg, often up to the knee. A type of soft leather ankle boots were worn by nomads in eastern Asia and carried to China, India and Russia around AD 1200 to 1500 by Mongol invaders.

And, as with all fashion, the practicality of the boot went out the window and the aesthetic pleasure and allure of the boot stepped in, in the fantastic, fabulous form of the thigh high boot! A sexy, sensual boot that looks and fits just right!

The thigh high boot: provocative, alluring, bold and cute!

That boot that goes up over your thigh has certainly caught my eye!

Perhaps I ought to buy me a pair and give the courageous boot a try!

Whether you’re on the catwalk, taking a Sunday stroll or walking a mall, when you step out in a glamorous pair of thigh high boots you’ll stand tall above them all!

“I can’t help but notice your long legs and how you walk with a strut and style.”

“I’m sure it’s my thigh high boots that caught your eye and brought about your smile.”

“The black patent leather material shimmers and glows and looks soft to the feel.”

“Not to mention the boots hug my thighs and stand high on a six inch heel.”

“I do believe that I must dub you the queen of the daring, sensual, appealing shoe.”

“I’ll wear the title proudly because as a shoe connoisseur only the thigh high boot will do!”

Thigh High Boots: The beautiful boot that let’s you stand out in a crowd! The oomph of the boot shouts style out loud!

Yes, as a fashion maven I am fully aware that showing one’s ankles is considered sexy and charming. As a shoe horse, I’m also completely sold on ankle boots,  a shoe that invariably covers the ankles! As in anything, there is a time and a place for everything!
A fashion boot is a boot worn for reasons of style and fashion rather than for utilitarian purposes (i.e., not hiking boots, riding boots, rain boots, etc.).  The term fashion boots generally applies to women’s boots. Fashion boots come in a variety of styles, from ankle boots to thigh length, and are worn for casual, formal and business attire.
Ankle boots give your feet something to glow about!

Ankle boots are the mostly widely worn style of fashion boots, a great shoe to wear under pants or with a skirt or dress of any length. Ankle boots can vary in length from booties or shoe boots (effectively a shoe boot that skims the ankle) to boots that cover the lower part of the calf.
Fashion Boot Fun Fact: Although boots were a popular style of women’s footwear in the Nineteenth century, they weren’t recognized as a high fashion item until the 1960s. Boots became widely popular in the 1970s and have remained a staple of women’s winter wardrobes to date.
Whether you arrive early or fashionably late, when you step in wearing alluring ankle boots, people will adore the shoes that you’re in!

American designer Beth Levine is widely credited as the first person to introduce boots into Haute Couture. As early as 1953, Beth Levine introduced under the Herbert Levine label a calf-length boot in white kidskin. In 1957, Herbert Levine produced an entire collection based around fashion boots, and calf-high, kitten heeled fashion boots for women began to grow in popularity.
Rising dress hemlines and the availability of new, brightly colored artificial materials such as PVC combined to make boots an attractive fashion option for women. As skirts became shorter during the 1960s (think miniskirts) there was a keen interest in ankle boots, knee high boots and thigh high boots.
Let’s clap our hands, move our feet and do the ankle boot scoot boogie to the music beat! Ah, a tempting treat for the feet!

Ankle Boot Fun Fact: Ankle boots look great with skirts, dresses, shorts and pants. No matter your outfit, no matter your mood, when you are dressed in ankle boots, your entire clothing ensemble is pulled together with a sexy fashion attitude!
The Standard Boot Design:

  1. Fashion boots employ the same range of soles and heels as found in other shoes (rubber, canvas, stiletto heel, flat, thick heel, high heel, etc.).
  2. In boots, the shaft height varies.
  3. Ankle boots generally have a shaft height of less than 8 inches.
  4. Calf-length boots have a shaft height of 8 to 15 inches.
  5. Knee-length boots have a shaft height of 15 – 19 inches.
  6. Thigh-high boots have a shaft height of 19 or more inches.
  7. The shaft of a fashion boot can be fitted or loose.
  8. Boots can be pulled onto the foot or be fitted using fasteners, such as laces, zippers, and/or buttons.

A fun closet is a closet ankle deep in ankle boots!

Fashion Boots Fun Fact: Although fashion boots, and particularly ‘go-go boots’, are often described as typical of the 1960s fashion, it wasn’t until the 1970s that boots became a mainstream fashion staple for women. For many women in the 1960s, boots were seen as a superfluous accessory more suitable for teenagers and college girls than grown women. In a 1968 survey posted in The New York Times, 75% of office managers surveyed disapproved of their female staff wearing boots to work. By contrast, in 1977 boots made up 20% of all women’s shoe sales in the United States.  By the end of the 1970s, Sears, Montgomery Wards and Kays sold boots from their catalogs.

Ankle boots remain a very popular staple in women’s shoes.  Ankle boots can be worn with pants and look particularly eye catching with straight legged jeans. Ankle boots are also a splendid shoe to wear as a popular, pretty alternative to sandals.
Popular Types of Women’s Fashion Boots:

  1. Ankle Boots
  2. Cowgirl Boots
  3. Go-Go Boots
  4. Kinky Boots
  5. Knee-High Boots
  6. Over-the-Knee Boots
  7. Platform Boots
  8. Russian Boots
  9. Thigh-High Boots

Let’s give a shout out and a hoot to a great, rocking pair of ankle boots!

Whether you wear your ankle boots on the catwalk, the runway, or your own signature way, when your festive feet are decorated in ankle boots you’ll enjoy every step of your day!
“Your black suede ankle boots look simply stunning as you strut down the street.”
“Yes, not only are they gorgeous to stare at, but they fit so snug and comfy on my feet.”
“So your ankle boots are truly made for walking all around the town?”
“Yes, and they are just as splendid if I run, dance or merely just sit down.”
“I adore the glamour of the ankle boot that accentuates the shape of your calf.”
“They cover my ankles but expose my legs, so you still get half-and-half!”
Ankle Boots: Strike a pose as you wear your ankle boots everywhere that you go! Put on your own “ankle boot” fashion show!

It’s a given that colors can affect our moods. Colors appear to us in numerous forms. Man is able to perceive at least 2,000 different shades with the naked eye, and humans get 87% of our sensual impressions through a colored world.
One of the most striking colors for clothing is the neutral color of beige or nude. The other two colors categorized as neutral are white and brown. When dressing for an event, a day at the office or fun in the sun, beige/nude clothing is always in style and always works well.

Beige Fun Fact: The color beige offers some of the warmth of the color brown and some of the crisp coolness of the color white. Though beige can be a relaxing color, there are many ways to wear beige so that the garments don’t come across as dull or boring. Add color, bling and zing with bright or neon colored accessories. Perhaps necklaces, bracelets and rings!
Colors in clothing are important in our lives as they can directly influence our well-being and mood. Each of us has a range of colors that we enjoy and become comfortable wearing. If you dress in beige/nude often, good for you. If not, why not give the neutral color a try? You can always spice up an outfit with colored accessories, shoes, handbags and jewelry.

Halter tops and halter dresses (referred to as halternecks) are perfect garments to wear in the lazy, hazy, crazy and oh so hot days of summer!
A halterneck is a style of women’s clothing straps that run from the front of the garment around the back of the neck, and leaves most of the back uncovered. The name comes from livestock halters.
The halter style is used with swimsuits, which maximizes sun tan exposure on the back and minimizes tan lines. The halter style also looks cool, chic and gorgeous on tops and dresses, especially sun dresses.

1702152_278442

Halter Top Fun Fact: A halter top is a type of sleeveless shirt similar to a tank top, but with straps being tied behind the neck. In another style of halter top, there is only one narrow strap behind the neck and a narrow strap behind the middle of the back, so that it is mostly backless. This design resembles many bikini tops, although it covers the chest more and may cover some or all of the abdomen at the front.
Neckline Fun Fact: The neckline is the top edge of a garment that surrounds the neck, especially the front view. Neckline also refers to the overall line between all the layers of clothing and the neck and shoulders of a person, ignoring the unseen garment. For each item of clothing worn above the waist, the neckline is primarily a style line and may be a boundary for further shaping of the upper edge of a garment with a collar, cowl, darts or pleats.
Wear a halterneck for a look and feel that is fashion sweet! Sweep the fashion world off its feet!

Halter Dress and Halter Top Fashion Tip: Most halter tops and halter dresses are made to wear braless, or come with a built in/sewn in bra. If you choose to wear a bra with a halterneck, the bra is generally strapless to avoid exposing the bra straps. However, as with all fashion, some people choose to wear bras with halternecks either in the same color or a different color as the garment to create a style effect.
With longer hair, the neck strap of a halterneck can be covered by the wearer’s hair, leaving the impression that nothing is holding up the dress or the top. With shorter hair, or for a look that is classy and sassy, wearing the hair in a bun or swept off the shoulders accentuates the stunning halter neckline!
Halt the presses! Break into summer in styling halter tops and halter dresses!

From casual tops, to dresses, to sun dresses, to evening gowns, halterneck clothing is like wearing a diamond on the town!
Dress Fun Fact: A dress (also known as a frock or gown) is a garment consisting of a skirt with an attached bodice, or a matching bodice giving the effect of a one-piece garment. A dress can also be a one-piece garment containing a skirt of any length. Dresses can be formal or informal, dressy or casual. The hemlines of dresses vary depending on the whims of fashion and the modesty or personal taste of the wearer.
Halter dresses are fun and whimsical and help to wipe away the day’s daily stresses.

Top Fun Fact: A top is an item of clothing that covers at least the chest, but which usually covers most of the upper human body between the neck and the waistline. The bottom or hem of tops can be as short as mid-torso (think darling crop tops), or as long as mid-length. Women’s tops are generally paired with skirts, pants or shorts. Tops may be worn loose or tight around the bust or waist, and may have sleeves or shoulder straps, spaghetti straps or noodle straps, or be strapless. The back may be covered or bare.
Halter tops make for a look that is elegant, chic, cool, youthful and are stylish and fun to wear!

marc-jacobs-shares-elegance-in-halter-top-profileil_fullxfull_324322865
Before the Victorian period, the word ‘dress’ referred to a general overall mode of attire for either men or women, as reflected today in such phrases as “evening dress”, “morning dress”, “traveling dress”, “full dress”, and so on, rather than to a specific garment. By the early 20th century, the words ‘gown’ and ‘frock’ became synonymous with “dress”, with ‘gown’ more often used for formal, heavy or full-length garments. A ‘frock’ or ‘dress’ generally refers to a lightweight, shorter or informal gown.
In the last few decades in the United States, “gown” has lost its general meaning of a woman’s garment in favor of the word “dress”.
Whether you are draped in a gown or a dress, when donned in a halterneck you’ll look and feel your smashing best!
main-qimg-600819d9c390b2012151018407af548d

Dress Fun Fact: Beginning around 1915, hemlines for daytime dresses left the floor. For the next fifty years, fashionable dresses became short (think the 1920s), then long (1930s), then shorter (the War Years put restrictions on fabric amounts), then long (the “New Look”).
Since the 1970s, no one dress type or dress length has dominated fashion, with short and ankle-length styles appearing side-by-side in fashion magazines and catalogs.
No matter the decade, no matter the years, halter tops and halter dresses deserve fashion shouts and cheers!

Polka dot materials are pleasant, playful and pretty. They are also “spot” on in current fashion!  Polka dot is a pattern consisting of an array of large filled circles (discs). Polka dots differentiate from a general spot pattern as polka dots are perfectly even in shape and size, while spots can be irregular in spacing and size (although many people refer to spotted garments as polka dotted).
Many modern polka dot prints include more randomly spaced, sized and colored dots. Polka dots became common on clothing in the late 19th century in the United Kingdom.
Polka dots will remain a garment rated number one until kingdom come!

Polka Dot Fun Fact: The polka dot pattern rarely appears in formal clothing contexts and is generally confined to a more playful attire such as bathing suits and lingerie. Polka dots also make a spotted splash on summery skirts, dresses, shorts and stockings, perfect to wear when running or walking!
The term ‘polka dot’ originated in popularity from the polka dance which was big at the time the polka dot pattern became fashionable. Traditionally polka dots are used in clothing of flamenco dancers and performers due to their stylish flair and festive fun vibration!

In the realm of jewelry and accessories in fashion, belts are one of the best items to decorate and dress up an outfit. Yes, belts do much more than merely hold your pants up! Perhaps the loveliest of all belts is the chain belt.
A belt is a flexible band or strap, typically made of leather or a heavy cloth, and worn around the waist, or sometimes directly under the rib cage. Chain belts are typically made from precious metals, mainly gold and silver. Platinum, palladium and steel may also be used. These metals are used because they keep their intricate shape and strength, and require minimal maintenance to keep their lustrous shine.
Chain-belts

Chain belts and body chains are designed mainly for aesthetic purposes.
Popular Types of Jewelry Chains:

  1. Byzantine: An intricate chain that can be made by the hobbyist from jump rings.
  2. Figaro: A number of standard chain links precede an elongated link all the way through.
  3. Rolo: Round links joined in a simple alternating sequence.
  4. Rope: Rope chain creates the effect of two twisting strands spiraled together, created by many small links which are not completely joined.
  5. Singapore: Links are joined in such a way that even when the chain is untwisted, there is a natural curve to it.
  6. Trace: The simplest chain. The links are uniform in breadth and thickness.
  7. Twisted: The links are joined to where the chain has a twisted look.
  8. Wheat: Long, thin teardrop-shape links that all point in the same direction.

Chain Belt Fun Fact: Chain belts are often made from “fancy” chains, which can be any form of fine metal that can be replicated and joined onto each other to make a chain. Many fancy chains are variations of the standard styles, for example a trace chain formed of heart-shaped links or a curb chain with every other link set with a gemstone.
Bead chains are another popular choice for chain belts. A bead chain is formed of small balls of metal joined by small lengths of wire, not longer than each bead in between.
Chic in chain belts: would I yank your fashion chain?

Chain belts look gorgeous and can doll up a casual outfit or add extra elegance and pizzazz to ritzy, evening attire.
Belt Fun Fact: Belts have been documented as male clothing since the Bronze Age. However, both genders have used belts depending on the current fashion. In the Western world, belts were more common for men, with the exception of the early Middle Ages, late 17th century Mantua, and skirt/blouse combinations between 1900 and 1910. Today, belts are as popular for women as for men, often worn with skirts, dresses and pants.

Sure, bikinis and two piece bathing suits are alluring, sensual and a fashion staple of summer, pools, beaches and vacations. For those that dread slinking into two piece swimsuits, or for those of you that find one piece bathing suits more attractive, there are many one piece suits that are sexy as well as comfortable, darling and adorable.
Fit for the body, fit for the ocean…make a summer splash that is sure to last!
A one piece swimsuit is usually a skin tight garment that covers a female’s torso, except the back or upper chest. Many one piece suits are cut stylish and provocative, covering the crucial body parts, yet exposing a semblance of the stomach, back and ribcage.

Swimsuit Fun Fact: Swimwear is described by a number of names, including swimsuit, bathing suit, swimming costume, swimming suit, swimmers, swimming togs, bathers, cossies and swimming trunks.
The most common type of one piece swimsuit is the maillot, or tank suit, which resembles a sleeveless leotard or body suit. There are variants of the one piece bathing suit, including halter neck styles and plunge front swimsuits. Another innovation in one piece swimsuits is the body skin, which resembles a unitard or wetsuit.
One Piece Swimsuit Fun Fact: The modern one piece swimsuit made its appearance in the mid-1900s, when the style was widely described as a maillot. Its widespread acceptance is attributed to Australian swimmer Annette Kellerman. Kellerman marketed these bathing suits and the style became known as “the Annette Kellerman.”

Swimsuit Fun Fact: Rayon was used in the 1920s in the manufacture of the tight fitting swimsuits, but its durability, especially when wet, proved problematic, with jersey and silk also sometimes being used. In the 1930s, new materials were being developed and used in swimwear, particularly latex and nylon, and swimsuits gradually began hugging the body.
Sassy and classy: sexy one piece bathing suits!

During the 1920s and 1930s people began to shift from “taking in the water” to “taking in the sun,” and swimsuit designs shifted from functional considerations to incorporate more decorative features. By the 1930s, the necklines of women’s swimwear plunged at the back, sleeves disappeared and sides were cut away and tightened. With the development of new clothing materials, swimsuits began hugging the body, with shoulder straps that could be lowered for tanning.
Hollywood endorsed this new glamour with films such as Neptune’s Daughter, in which Esther Williams wore provocatively named costumes like ‘Double Entendre’ and ‘Honey Child’.
Create a stir when on the beach in a one piece swimsuit. Durable, attractive, comfortable and downright sensual to boot!

Most swimsuits in western culture leave the head, shoulders, arms and legs exposed. Women’s bathing suits generally cover at least the aereola and bottom half of the breasts, and many one piece suits have amazing cuts and styles as more material can be used to create an eye catching, alluring garment.
Bathing Suit Not So Fun Fact: Germs, bacteria and mold can grow very quickly on wet bathing suits. Medical professionals warn that wearing damp swimwear for long periods of time can cause a number of infections and rashes in children and adults.

Whether you go to the beach for a swim, a good time, a walk or a run, dress up in a fancy, sassy, classy one piece bathing suit and soak up the glorious sun!
One Piece Bathing Suit Fun Fact: Wartime production during World War II required vast amounts of cotton, silk, nylon, wool, leather and rubber. In 1942 the United States War Production Board issued regulation L-85, cutting the use of natural fibers in clothing, and mandating a 10% reduction in the amount of fabric in women’s beachwear. To comply with the regulations, swimsuit manufacturers produced two piece swimsuits with bare midriffs, and dispensed with the skirt panels and other superfluous material.  Enter the two piece swimsuit!
Even with the popularity of the two piece bathing suit, the one piece swimsuit has held her ground and often times is the most dynamic, beautiful, stunning swimsuit around!

So much for swimsuit practicality. Although some swimsuits are designed specifically for swimming competitions or diving competitions, most bathing suits are designed for aesthetic reasons, as is most fashion! Hail the fashion queen…arrive on the summer scene looking better than you’ve ever been seen!
“I bought me the most gorgeous, flattering, fashionable one piece bathing suit today!”
“If you wear it to the beach, I bet you blow every bikini, thong and two piece swimsuit away.”
“I’ll definitely blow everyone else out of the water. My suit is sexy, playful and full of style.”
“I’ll come with you when you make your grand entrance. Watch everyone around you smile.”
“The suit is black with ruffled white trim. Hugs all the right places and makes me look thin.”
“So grand and glorious. Everyone needs to feel wonderful in the skin and the suit they’re in!
One Piece Bathing Suits: A definite fashion win!

Paisley prints look fun, exciting, colorful and whimsical. One might even describe paisley fabrics as magical and dreamy.
Paisley print pandemonium!
The Paisley pattern is a term for a design using the ‘buta’ or ‘botch’, a droplet-shaped vegetable motif of Persian origin. Buta is an almond-shaped ornament with a sharp-curved upper edge. Such designs became very popular in the West in the 18th and 19th centuries, following imports of post-Mughal versions of the design from India, especially in the form of Kashmir shawls, and were then imitated locally.

Resembling a twisted teardrop, the fig-shaped paisley is of Persian origin, but its western name derives from the town of Paisley, in West Scotland, a center for textiles where paisley designs were produced. Some design scholars believe it is the convergence of a stylized floral spray and a cypress tree: a Zoroastrian symbol of life and eternity.
Paisley Print Fun Fact: The floral motif was originated in the Sassanid Dynasty and later in the Safavid Dynasty of Persia (from 1501 to 1736), and was a major textile pattern in Iran during the Qajar and Pahlavi Dynasties. In these periods, the pattern was used to decorate royal regalia, crowns, and court garments, as well as textiles used by the general population.

Imports from the East India Company in the first half of the 17th century made paisley and other Indian patterns popular, and the Company was unable to import enough to meet the demand. Paisley was popular in the Baltic states between 1700 and 1800 and was thought to be used as a protective charm to ward off evil demons. Local manufacturers in Marseilles began to mass-produce the paisley patterns via early textile printing processes in 1640.
My oh my, when dressed in paisley prints you’ll get noticed walking by!

Paisley Park Fun Fact: Known around the world, the paisley pattern is a popular, colorful, youthful looking pattern. In addition to a fabulous fashion fabric, Paisley Park is known worldwide for music superstar Prince’s record label and recording studio, as well as living quarters.  Paisley Park was funded in part by Warner Bros. Records. It was started in 1985, following the success of a film and album Purple Rain. Paisley Park was opened to the public as a museum and memorial to Prince following his death on April 21, 2016.

Paisley Prints Fun Fact: Paisley fabrics/prints became identified with psychedelic style due to a resurgence in the pattern’s mainstream popularity leading up to the mid and late 1960s. Of particular note is the influence of The Beatles. The style was particularly popular during the Summer of Love 1967. Fender Guitars made a Pink Paisley version of their Telecaster guitar, by sticking paisley wallpaper onto the guitar bodies.
Create a fashion stint in a powerful paisley print!

Paisley Print Fun Fact: At the 2010 Winter Olympics, Azerbaijan’s team sported colorful paisley trousers. Paisley was also a favorite design element of architect Laurie Baker. He has made numerous drawings and collages of what he called ‘mango designs’. He also used to include the paisley shape in the buildings he designed.
The modern French words for paisley are boteh, cachemire and palme, palme being a reference to the palm tree, which along with the pine tree and cypress tree, is one of the traditional botanical motifs thought to have influenced the shape of the paisley element as it is now known.

Often psychedelic, always fun, dressing in paisley prints offers excitement and style for everyone!
Paisley Print Fun Fact: In addition to the loom-woven fabric, Paisley became a major site for the manufacturer of printed cotton and wool in the 19th century, according to the Scotland’s Paisley Museum and Art Gallery. The paisley pattern was being printed, rather than woven, on to other textiles, including cotton squares which were the precursors of the modern bandana. The key places of printing paisley were Britain and the Alsace region of France.
We tip our paisley hats off around the globe for paisley fashions of dresses, skirts, pantsuits, shorts, blazers, pajamas and robes!

For most high schoolers, May is the month of gearing up to study for finals, planning summer vacations and celebrating that the school year is coming to a close by attending the famous dance known as “prom.”
A prom is a semi-formal (black tie) dance or gathering of high school students. The prom is typically held near the end of the junior and senior year. Proms figure greatly in popular culture and are major events among high school students. The event is often a combined junior/senior dance.
A popular tradition at prom, besides exchanging corsages and boutonnieres, are formal, gorgeous, glorious dresses and gowns to be worn by the females.

7e0fe118c17d51168845565943e04fa3

Prom Fun Fact: At a prom, a Prom King and Prom Queen may be revealed. These are honorary titles awarded to students elected in a school-wide vote prior to the prom, and these titles are generally awarded to seniors. Other students may be honored with inclusion in a “Prom Court.” The Prom King and Prom Queen are often given crowns to wear. Members of the Prom Court may be given sashes to wear and photographed together.
In the early days of high school proms, the nighttime dance served a function similar to a debutante ball. Early proms were times of firsts: the first adult social event for teenagers; the first time taking the family car or fancy limousine out after dark; the first real dress up affair, etc., similar to a milestone event such as a First Holy Communion or a wedding.
2017-Prom-Evening-Dresses-Burgundy-Velour-Top-Organza-Skirt-A-Line-Dark-Red-Formal-Prom-Gowns

Prom Fun Fact: Usage of the term ‘prom’ is becoming more common around the world and appears to be a colloquial and regional practice. Formal English usage suggests “Prom” is a noun and should be preceded by an article, although it is often not a practice. “Prom” is a shortened version of promenade.
Popular Prom Attire:

  1. Girls wear traditional ladies’ dresses or evening gowns and adorn themselves with fancy jewelry such as earrings and a necklace. Girls often wear perfume, makeup, lipstick and blush. Girls also wear a corsage (either wrist or pin-on) given to them by their prom dates. Many times girls have their hair professionally styled for their big night.
  2. Boys often dress in black or white formal wear, sometimes paired with ties or bow ties with vests, in some cases in colors matching their date’s dress. Boys are given matching boutonnieres to be worn on their lapels by their dates.

clarisse-prom-dress-2566-61
Prom Fun Fact: After the prom, parents or a community may host a “prom after-party” at a restaurant, entertainment venue or a student’s home. Other traditions often include trips to nearby attractions, such as amusement parks, regional or local parks, or family or rented vacation houses. Some of these post-prom events are chaperoned and some are unsupervised. Most after-prom events are held at the school, and involve bringing entertainment such as interactive games, artists and other entertainers to the school.
Always follow the golden rule: dress off the charts glam for the Prom held at school!

Prom Fun Fact: The concept of extending prom to homeschooled students has increased in recent years. Although some school districts in the United States and Canada allow homeschool students to attend prom in the school district where they reside, many homeschool groups also organize their own proms. Some states, such as Oregon, Ohio, Georgia, Tennessee and Michigan also host statewide homeschool proms, which any homeschool student is welcome to attend. Glorious!
Primped and poised for a perfect prom!

Although all of these prom dresses are beautiful, I am particularly fond of this off-the-shoulder, sleek dress in the baby doll pink. I love the dainty look, the silk fabric and the mermaid style cut! Stunning!

The custom of the high school prom exists in many parts of the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Africa, Asia, the Honduras, Peru, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago and most Caribbean countries, Uruguay and many others.
Prom Fun Fact: While high school year books didn’t start covering proms and including prom pictures until the 1930s and 1940s, historians believe proms have existed in high schools as early as the 19th century. The prom has since taken on a larger-than-life meaning for high school students.
img-147326
landscape-1485895150-sev-013117-prom

As people gained more money and leisure time, proms have become more extravagant and elaborate. Junior and senior proms are often held at hotel ballrooms and country clubs, as opposed to the school gymnasium. Where arriving in a compact or standard car was once acceptable, luxury cars and limousines often transports high schoolers today. In some ways, the prom has become the pinnacle of high school events in a student’s life.
Be prom smart, dress the stylish, fashionable, gorgeous, sensational part!

Step into an evening of the high life…dress and dance away the stress and strife of homework and daily life.
“I find you to be extremely caring and nice.”
“I fit the stereotype of  a girl? Made of sugar and spice?”
“I would be honored  if you would accompany me to the Prom as my date.”
“I’m thrilled to accept your invitation. I’m excited and can hardly wait.”
“When you select your gown let me know the colors so we can match.”
“We’ll make a fabulous, fashionable pair. With you I have a great catch!”
