Oh how we all wish we could adore the skin that we’re in: blemish free, soft and smooth with a healthy, happy glow. I’m thrilled to say it can be so. Skin care can seem overwhelming with so many serums, products and brands on the market that promise radiant, wrinkle free, younger and blemish free skin. What’s a glamour girl or guy to do when you walk down the store aisles and you see so many lotions, moisturizers and soaps standing out at you?

Your basic skin care can be simple with great results by using 5 essential products to help you relish the skin that you’re in!

The 5 Most Important Steps of Your Skin Care Routine:

• Facial Cleanser: Facial cleansers will clean your skin, and are easier and more gentle on your skin than soap. When cleansing, start at the bottom of your face and work your way up to stimulate the skin and open the pores. Rinse with warm water and pat dry with a towel.

• Skin Toner: A strong skin toner works wonders for a healthy skin care routine. Toners close pores, remove traces of built up oils and help seal in moisture.

• Moisturizers/Oils: Once your face is fresh and clean, you’ll want to prevent dryness by applying a moisturizer or facial oil. Dry skin leads to premature aging, clogged pores and dull looking skin. Oils help to moderate your skin’s oil production as opposed to making oily skin oilier.

• Facial Masks: Although you don’t need to use a facial mask everyday, once a week is a grand idea to help firm and cleanse your skin. All beauty supply stores carry face masks geared for different skin types (dry, normal, oily, combination) and skin conditions (deep-pore, mid-pore and topical). Cream, clay and mud masks are very popular and can either be wiped off or peeled off when your mask treatment is complete.

• Clean, Soft Makeup Brushes: Once your skin care routine is finished for the evening or morning and it’s makeup time, you’ll likely want to brush a light dose of translucent powder over your face to give you a healthy, radiant, lasting glow. Always use soft, clean brushes to keep your pristine skin care routine at its best.

We all enjoy the pampering and pleasure that we receive by indulging in a fabulous facial. In addition to the soothing, relaxing effects and joy that a facial brings, we also get immediate benefits with clear, smooth, healthy, younger looking skin. Ah, to love the skin that you’re in!

Facials are used for both general skin health and to treat specific skin conditions. Popular types of facials include the European facial, LED light therapy facials and mini-facials.

Depending on your preferred results, your skin type and your complexion, there are different types of facial masks (cactus, cucumber, etc.) used for different purposes:

  1.  Deep Cleansing: Penetrates the pores, healing acne scars or hyper-pigmentation.
  2.  Brightening: Brings a gradual illumination to your skin tone.

Facials are performed using moisturizer creams, masks, or both. A large part of the success of your facial is determined by the type of moisturizer that you use. Moisturizers are complex mixtures of chemical agents specifically designed to smooth the skin and make external layers of the skin softer and more pliable.

Facial masks help hold in moisture, making your skin supple and adding a healthy glow. Some masks are designed to solidify on the face, almost like plaster, while others remain wet. The perceived effects of a facial mask treatment include revitalizing, healing and refreshing the skin, yielding temporary and long term benefits. Facial masks are removed by either rinsing the face with water, wiping the mask off with a damp warm cloth, or peeling a dry mask off the face.

Just like your body requests water to quench thirst, hydrate your body and stay healthy, your skin requests water and moisture to stay soft, smooth and blemish free. A great way to feed your facial skin from the outside is with a relaxing, nourishing facial.

A facial is a family of skin care treatments for the face, including steam, exfoliation, extraction, creams, lotions, facial masks, peels and massages. Facials are often performed in beauty salons, but are also a common spa treatment. Then there are the easy yet rewarding do it yourself facials, which you can perform in the privacy of your own home.

Facials are used for general skin health, as well as to treat specific skin conditions. Popular types of facials include the European facial, LED light therapy facials and mini-facials.

Facial Fun Fact: There are different types of facial masks (cactus, cucumber, etc.) used for different purposes:

  1. Deep Cleansing: Penetrates the pores, healing acne scars or hyper-pigmentation.
  2. Brightening: Brings a gradual illumination to your skin tone.

Some masks are designed to dry or solidify on the face, almost like plaster, while other masks remain wet. The perceived effects of a facial mask treatment include revitalizing, healing and refreshing the skin, yielding temporary and long term benefits.

Facial Mask Fun Fact: Facial masks are removed by either rinsing the face with water, wiping off with a damp cloth, or peeling a dry mask off the face. Duration for wearing a mask varies with the type of mask, and manufacturers’ usage instructions. The time of wearing the mask can range from a few minutes to overnight.  Facial masks can be found anywhere from drugstores to fine department stores, as well as beauty supply stores and salons.  Facial masks vary in consistency and form, depending on the ingredients.

Facial Moisturizer Fun Fact: A large part of the success of the facial is the type of moisturizers used. Moisturizers or emollients are complex mixtures of chemical agents (often occlusives help hold water in the skin after application, humectants attract moisture and emollients help smooth the skin), specifically designed to make the external layers of the skin softer and more pliable. Moisturizers increase the skin’s hydration (water content) by reducing evaporation.

How to Give a Facial or a Do It Yourself Facial:

  1. Start with a clean, makeup free face.
  2. Take a close look at your skin, preferably with a lamp over your face, or bright lighting. Determine the skin type: normal, dry, combination, oily.
  3. Massage your face gently with your fingertips.
  4. Steam the pores on your face using a steamer and/or very hot water.
  5. Take a paint brush or a spatula and apply a mineral rich mud or clay mask, and smooth it all over the face.
  6. Leave the beauty mask on for approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
  7. Wash, rinse or peel the mask off.
  8. Apply a skin toner or astringent to the face.
  9. Apply moisturizer to the skin.
  10. Give a light spray of water to the skin to hydrate the skin.
  11. The facial is complete and your face looks youthful, radiant and glowing!

Moisturizers prevent and treat dry skin, protect sensitive skin, improve skin tone and texture and mask imperfections.

Preservation of Skin Types with Moisturizers:

  1. Normal Skin: Moisturizers can be used to prevent the skin from becoming too dry or oily, such as with light, non greasy water-based moisturizers. Such moisturizers often contain lightweight oils, such as cetyl alcohol, or silicone derived ingredients, such as cyclomethicone.
  2. Dry Skin: For treating skin dryness, the most appropriate moisturizers are heavier, oil based moisturizers that contain ingredients such as antioxidants, grape seed oil or dimethicone. For very dry, cracked skin, petroleum based products are preferable, as they are longer lasting than creams and are more effective in preventing water evaporation.
  3. Oily Skin: For oily skin, moisturizers can still be useful after activities causing skin dryness. For oily skin, water based moisturizers that are specifically non-comedogenic are preferable.
  4. Aging Skin: Appropriate moisturizers to keep aging skin soft and well hydrated are oil based ones that contain petrolatum as the base, along with antioxidants or alpha hydroxy acids against wrinkles.
  5. Sensitive Skin: On sensitive skin, (skin susceptible to skin irritations, redness, itching or rashes), it is preferable to use moisturizers which contain soothing ingredients such as chamomile or aloe, and that minimize potential allergens such as fragrances or dyes.

Fancy faces deserve fresh facials!

I scream, you scream, we all scream for a marvelous face cream!

Facial Fun Fact: Using natural ingredients, nuts or sugar may be used as exfoliants, while honey, mayonnaise, cucumber, strawberries or even chocolate may be used as facial masks. Warning: These face masks are made to be worn, not eaten!

“Your face has such a healthy glow; with a radiance and illumination divine.”

“I gave myself a face mask treatment and moisturizer…a facial that intertwined.”

“The results are truly exquisite: your skin looks supple and healthy as can be.”

“You left out youthful, stunning and smooth…completely blemish free.”

“I believe I’ll book a facial so my skin looks as young and lovely as yours.”

“Or do an at home facial…you’ll be impressed with the results and hide facial pores.”

Facials: For a healthy, luscious face with firm skin and wrinkles erased!

Everyone cares about the look and feel of their skin, wanting to love, soothe and protect the skin that you’re wrapped in. When it comes to the face, this is particularly true, as your facial skin is one of the first things others will see and notice when they look at you.
One way to help keep your facial skin hydrated, nourished, moisturized, fresh, clean and clear is with facials, cleansers and creams.
A facial is a family of skin care treatments for the face, including steam, exfoliation, extraction, creams, lotions, cleansers, facial masks, peels and massages. Facials are normally performed in beauty salons and spas, and can be used for general skin health as well as to treat specific skin conditions. Types of facials include the European facial, LED light therapy facials, mini-facials and the face cream moisturizing facial.

Most all facials are performed with some type of face cleansers and creams, or moisturizing creams. A cream is a topical preparation usually for application to the skin. Creams may be considered pharmaceutical products, as even cosmetic creams are based on techniques developed by pharmacies, and unmedicated creams are highly used in a variety of skin conditions.
Uses for Face Cleansers and Moisturizing Creams:

  1. To protect the skin
  2. To aid in the retention of moisture
  3. As a cleansing agent
  4. For emollient effects

Facial Cream Fun Fact: Although face creams use different ingredients, the four main ingredients in face creams are water, oil, emulsifier and a thickening agent.

Facials, cleansers and creams: your skin’s luxurious dream!
How to Do an At-Home Facial:

  1. Cleanse (Wash) Your Face: Cleansing removes dirt, oil and makeup and gives your face a clean slate.
  2. Exfoliate: Exfoliating is imperative for creating a healthier, smoother skin appearance.
  3. Steam: Steaming is generally the most relaxing and cleansing part of the facial, opening skin follicles/facial pores.
  4. Extractions: Helps remove blemishes.
  5. Treatment Mask: This is the heart of any facial. This is when your skin is most ready to receive nutrients, as the skin has been cleansed, exfoliated and steamed.
  6. Tone: Apply a cream or mist toner to the skin.
  7. Moisturize: Pick your favorite oil or face cream and apply to your face and around the eyes.
  8. Wahlah, a gorgeous you!

Facial Cleanser Fun Fact: But wait! With so many facial cleansers and moisturizers on the market to choose from, how does a busy fashion diva select one quickly so as not to waste any of her precious time, and ensure the product works?  Check out The Best Facial Cleanser article conducted and posted by Reviews.com for some fast, thorough, much needed help!

  1. The way you apply cleansers and moisturizers can have an affect on the outcome.
  2. Never skip your evening skin care routine.
  3. Pay attention to your skin’s specific needs.
  4. The best time to cleanse and moisturize your skin is during your morning and evening skin routine, or after bathing/showering.

Let’s give a round of applause to the soothing, shimmering, smooth results of facial cleansers and moisturizers! A delicious taste for your face!
Adore the skin that you’re in. Goopy gels never looked so good!

Every fashion gal cares about her skin. In addition to facial cleansers and creams, anti-aging creams are a major market seller. Anti-aging creams are predominantly moisturizer based, cosmetic skin care products marketed with the promise of making the consumer look younger by reducing, masking or preventing signs of skin aging. These signs are sagging skin, wrinkles, redness, skin yellowing and poor skin texture and tone. Traditionally, anti-aging creams have been marketed towards women, but products specifically targeting men are growing in popularity.

Nourish, replenish, cleanse, moisturize and feed the skin that your lovely face is wrapped in! Face cleansers and creams are a definite win!
“Your face looks so smooth and youthful. Your face radiates with warmth and light.”
“Yes, I use a facial cleanser and a moisturizer that shines and works just right.”
“You glow with the radiance of a child, no blemish or wrinkle in sight.”
“My cleanser and moisturizer works so well as I massage them into my face each night.”
“If I’m not overstepping my bounds, may I rub your facial skin so delicate and soft?”
“Certainly. Since my facial skin is so fresh and clean, they’ll be no makeup to rub off!”
Facial Cleansers and Creams: Keep your skin fit for a true fashion queen! You’ll definitely be seen!
