The pretty and pleasing fabric known as plaid never goes out of style. As early as the 1830s, plaid was a popular fabric pattern in the world of fashion. Plaid is a recognizable pattern consisting of criss-crossed horizontal and vertical bands of multiple colors. Plaid originated in woven wool, but today plaid fabrics are available in many other materials.

Plaid is made with alternating bands of colored threads woven as both warp and weft at right angles to each other. The weft is woven in a simple twill, two over – two under the warp, advancing one thread at each pass. This forms visible diagonal lines where different colors cross, which gives the appearance of new colors blended from the original ones. The resulting blocks of color repeat vertically and horizontally in a distinct pattern of squares and lines known as a ‘sett’.

Ready, set, go…look fabulous from head to toe when you are dressed in the cool, chic, rad fabric that is plaid!

Plaid Color Shades and Meanings:

1. Modern: A plaid that is colored using chemical dyes as opposed to natural dyes.
2. Ancient: A lighter shade of plaid that represent the colors that would result from the fabric aging over time.
3. Muted: Plaid which is shade between modern and ancient. This type of plaid is very modern, dating only from the 1970s. This shade is said to be the closest match to the shades attained by natural dyes used before the mid-19th century.

For those of you that prefer a splash of plaid as opposed to being wrapped in plaid, why not carry a plaid handbag or doll yourself up in plaid accessories? A touch of plaid looks exceptionally graceful and elegant on anyone, yes, even men!

Plaid Fun Fact: Plaid is recorded by counting the threads of each color that appear in the sett. The thread count not only describes the width of the stripes on a sett, but also the colors used. For example, the thread count “K4 R24 K24 Y4” breaks down as 4 black threads, 24 red threads, 24 black threads and 4 yellow threads. The first and last thread of the thread count are the pivot points.

The word ‘plaid’, derived from the Scottish Gaelic ‘plaide’, meaning blanket, was first used to describe any rectangular garment. Over time, the term ‘plaid’ was used to describe blankets themselves.

Today plaid is a pretty, pleasing pattern that looks both elegant and fun and is adored and recognized by everyone!

The fashion pandemonium plaid is never a fad!

Although plaid prints can be found in all colors, plaid fabrics consisting of black, red and yellow are the most popular. For a striking, stunning sight, dress in plaid garments of black and white.

Gorgeous and glad to be wearing plaid!

Even though the plaid pattern never goes out of style, plaid is making a huge fashion statement for Fall/Winter 2018! Go out and buy the perfect plaid clothing for your closet…it shows great taste! You’ll enjoy wearing plaid and receive so many compliments that your money certainly won’t go to waste! Whether you wear plaid shirts, pants, dresses, shorts or skirts, plaid is a cute, fun, recognizable pattern adored by everyone.

Get your positive fashion spin on when wearing plaid…the criss-cross pattern is cool, chic and rad.

The odds are that no matter if you are someone who lives for fashion or prefers to step out in a T-shirt and jeans, when it comes to your hair you truly do care! Our hair is extremely important to us, from the color and cut to the length and hairstyle. Some of us prefer to wear our hair the same way everyday, while others like to experiment with various hairdos and hair colors.

May I suggest going with swept back hair for dressy or daytime wear?

Swept back hairstyles entail the top of your hair being swept off your forehead, and often times the sides of your hair blown back to show your ears. Both men and women can rock this hairstyle, by either combing your hair straight back or slicking your hair back with gel or mousse. This hairstyle not only looks great but is easy to do. Simply run your fingers through your hair and pull your luscious locks back. Creating this trendy look for yourself is as simple as letting your hair grow longer on the top and the sides. Most side swept styles have at least one inch of hair along the sides of the head and two inches on the top.

Hire a Mobile Styles professional hair stylist to sweep back your hair and let the chic, cool, classic hairstyle sweep you off your feet! What a special, well deserved treat!

How to Get the Swept Back Hairstyle:

1. Wash and condition your hair with your favorite hair products.
2. Damp dry your hair with a towel.
3. Use a blow dryer to finish drying your hair. If you prefer to blow dry the top of your hair up and off of your forehead, comb or brush the top of your hair straight back using a cool setting. This will make the top of your hair poof up.
4. Blow dry the sides of your hair straight back.
5. Apply hair gel or mousse into your luscious locks by running your fingers and palms through the top and sides of your hair.
6. Continue to blow dry and brush your hair back until the hair is dry.
7. Apply hairspray and/or hair shine if preferred.

Swept back hair for a striking and stunning you! So cool!

Your hairstyle can completely change your appearance. A fresh color, cut and style can take years off your looks and bring you a much deserved smile.

If you’re like me, when I get my hair professionally done, I can never get my tremendous tresses to look as good as they did when I left the salon. What’s a guy or gal to do who adores their hair but just can’t do an “expert” style job themselves? Call a hair expert, of course.

There’s no denying that in the world of hairstyles, bangs are absolutely adorable. Bangs, also known as fringe, are made by a shaped cutting of the front part of the hair so that it lays over the forehead. Bangs can be cut fairly straight, at or above the eyebrows, but can also be ragged or ruffled, wispy, spiked up with hair gel, mousse or wax, swept to the side, or cut longer to fall over the eyes.

No matter how you choose to wear your bangs, haircuts with bangs look bold, beautiful and bouncy! Bangs can be alluring, provocative, cute, fashionable, high fashion, sexy, youthful and fun.

If you love bangs but don’t feel confident to cut your own hair, let a Mobile Styles hair professional give you the stunning hairstyle you long to wear.

Common Styles of Bangs:

1. Straight Across or Full Bangs
2. Side Swept Bangs
3. Blunt Bangs
4. See-Through or Wispy Bangs
5. Layered Bangs
6. Arch or Rounded Bangs
7. Parted Bangs
8. Baby Bangs
9. Brow Skimming Bangs

If you’re used to forging forward with a bare forehead, yet somewhere deep inside of you bangs are banging to get out, take the bang plunge. If you tend to desire a more conservative look, yet you want to try a banging bang hairstyle, you can go to your favorite beauty supply store and buy clip on bangs. This serves a couple of purposes: you can see if you do indeed rock your look with fashionable bangs and, if you don’t want to go as permanent as cutting your hair, you can periodically clip in the bangs whenever you feel sassy enough to do so.

Change your current hairstyle and wear adorable bangs for awhile!

Fall (autumn) is in the air, which means cooler temperatures, pumpkins, colorful leaves and beautiful blooming summer flowers will be going away. So, how do you keep the sunshine, summer, flower spirit in fall? By dressing in fabulous fall floral prints.
Fall is one of the four temperature seasons. Fall marks the transition from summer to winter, in September (Northern Hemisphere) or March (Southern Hemisphere), when the duration of daylight becomes noticeably shorter and temperatures cool down considerably. One of the main features of fall is the shedding of leaves from various trees.

Floral prints look summery, airy, whimsical and light, bringing pure sunshine and joy to the wearer, much like when you receive a bouquet of fresh flowers.
Flower Fun Fact: A flower, sometimes known as a blossom, is the reproductive structure found in plants that are floral. The biological function of a flower is to effect reproduction, usually by providing a mechanism for the union of sperm with eggs. In addition to facilitating the reproduction of flowering plants, flowers have long been admired and used by humans to bring beauty to their environment.

Global Symbolism of Flowers:

  1. Romance
  2. Ritual
  3. Religion
  4. Medicine
  5. Clothing

Floral printed garments tend to look romantic. Although flowered prints work perfect for summer, floral print garments make a grand appearance through every season!
When should I dress in floral prints? Always!
To dress in floral prints, when is the best season? Winter, spring, summer and fall, and you don’t need a reason!

Floral Design Fun Fact: Floral design, or flower arrangement, is the art of using plant materials and flowers to create a pleasing and balanced composition. Evidence of refined floristry is found as far back as the culture of Ancient Egypt. Professionally designed floral arrangements or artwork incorporate the elements of floral design: line, form, space, texture, and color. The principles of floral design include balance, proportion, rhythm, contrast, harmony and unity.
When flowers are printed on your pantsuit or your dress, whether the flowers are balanced or mixed and muted, you’ll stand out from all the rest!

In addition to floral prints and flower arrangements, floral design includes making wreaths, nosegays, garlands, festoons, corsages, boutonnieres and bows.
There are many styles of floral prints. The Eastern, Western and European styles have all influenced the commercial floral industry as it is today. Floral printed clothes can be characterized by symmetrical, asymmetrical, horizontal and vertical designs and floral placements.

Hour by hour and day by day, flower power clothing is here to stay!

“I’m impressed you know your flowers so well. I find that truly sublime.”
“So the fact that I admire fashion and know my flowers impresses you?”
“It seems we think alike. We’d probably get along splendidly, us two.”

What is it about a lace fabric that gives the material that extra flare of femininity and beauty? It’s the delicate, demure, dazzling look that lace creates.
Lace is a delicate fabric made of yarn or thread in an open weblike pattern, made by machine or hand. Originally linen, silk, gold or silver threads were used to make lace, but now lace is often made with cotton thread, although linen and silk threads are still available.
Dress lusciously and lovely in lace! Exquisite fashion taste!

Lace Fun Fact: The word lace is from Middle English, from Old French las, noose, strin, from Latin laceum, akin to lacere, to entice or snare.
The origins of lace is disputed by historians. An Italian claim is a will in 1493 by the Milanese Sforza family. A Flemish claim is lace on the alb of a worshipping priest in a painting around the year 1485 by Hans Memling. Since lace evolved from other techniques, it is impossible to say that it originated in any one place.
Win the fashion race: elegant and lovely in lace!

Nancy Mangano’s Lace Fashion Tip: Although I find all lace garments to be beautiful, beguiling and alluring, I feel lace clothing is the most regal and luxurious in black or white. Black lace denotes royalty and mystery, while white lace gives off an aura of innocence and youth. All lace clothing comes across as dainty, feminine and glamorous.
Lace Fun Fact: The late 16th century marked the rapid development of lace; both needle lace and bobbin lace became dominant in fashion as well as home décor. For enhancing the beauty of collars and cuffs, needle lace was embroidered with loops and picots.

Popular Types of Lace:

  1. Bobbin Lace – Made with bobbins and a pillow.
  2. Chemical Lace – The stitching area is stitched with embroidery threads that form a continuous motif.
  3. Crocheted Lace – Includes Irish crochet, pineapple crochet and filet crochet.
  4. Cutwork Lace – Lace constructed by removing threads from a woven background, and the remaining threads are wrapped or filled with embroidery.
  5. Knitted Lace – Shetland lace, such as the ‘wedding ring shawl’, a lace shawl so fine that it can be pulled through a wedding ring.
  6. Knotted Lace – Includes macramé and tatting.
  7. Machine Made Lace – Any style of lace created or replicated using mechanical means.
  8. Needle Lace – Lace made using a needle and thread.
  9. Tape Lace – Makes the tape in the lace as it is worked, or uses a machine or hand made textile strip formed into a design, then joined and embellished with needle or bobbin lace.

Fill your closet with droves of lace…a sure win and never a money waste!

Historical Patrons and Lace Makers:

  1. Giovanna Dandolo
  2. Barbara Uthmann
  3. Morosina Morosini
  4. Frederico de Vinciolo
  5. Rosa Elena Egipciaco
  6. Scranton Lace Company

In addition to fabulous clothing, lace is exquisite material for making doilies and ribbons.

Lace Fun Fact: Lace was used by clergy of the early Catholic Church as part of vestments in religious ceremonies, but didn’t come into widespread use until the 16th century in the northwestern part of the European continent. The popularity of lace increased rapidly and the cottage industry of lace making spread throughout Europe.
In North America in the 19th century, missionaries spread the knowledge of lace making to the Native American tribes.
Wrap yourself in glorious lace for a stylish, elegant, great fashion vibe!

Lace Fun Fact: St. John Francis Regis guided many women into the lace making and embroidery trade, which is why he became the Patron Saint of lace making.
“I love the classy dress that you’re wearing and the way the fabric plays peek-a-boo.”
“This is my gorgeous black lace dress, it covers enough but leaves some skin showing through.”
“You are the most lavished dress woman in the room. Surely a lovely sight.”
“A true fashion diva has come to town. I’m having an exceptional, wonderful night.”
“I might try your signature style but add some leather to my lace.”
“Marvelous darling. You’ll show your over-the-top, dazzling fashion taste!”
Lace Clothing: Make no mistake about it, when dressed head-to-toe in lace garments you’ll be a stunning fashion hit!

Whether you know the correct name or not (Pixie Dress) most everyone recognizes a pixie dress when they see one. Flowing lace or chiffon fabric, layered hems, light, whimsical style. Pixie dresses give off a “girly girl” vibe.
Pixies are mythical creatures of folklore, considered to be particularly concentrated in the high moorland areas around Devon and Cornwell, suggesting some Celtic origin for the belief and name. Akin to the Irish and Scottish Aos Si, pixies are believed to inhabit ancient underground ancestor sites such as stone circles, barrows, dolmens, ringforts or menhirs.
Let’s do the Pixie Prance and dance our way into fashion fun!

Pixie dresses very much resemble fairy clothing and are a popular garment for women and girls.
Pixie Fun Fact: In addition to dresses, there is the popular hairstyle known as the pixie cut. A pixie cut is a short hairstyle, generally short on the back and the sides of the head, and slightly longer on the top. The pixie cut is a variant of the crop cut. Depending on the style, pixie cuts range from as short as one half inch in some places to two or three inches long in others. Pixie cuts are easy to maintain and can be worn casually, or dressed up for special occasions. Celebrities who have sported pixie cuts include Anne Hathaway, Annie Lennox, Tyra Banks, Carey Mulligan, Charlize Theron, Emma Watson, Halle Berry, Helen Mirren, Judi Dench and Michelle Williams.
Pixie haircuts were first popularized in the 1950s when Audrey Hepburn wore the style in her debut film “Roman Holiday”, and later in the 1960s by actress Mia Farrow and British supermodel Twiggy.

Dress Fun Fact: A dress is a garment consisting of a skirt with an attached bodice (or a matching bodice giving the effect of a one-piece garment). A dress consists of a top piece that covers the torso and hangs down over the legs. A dress can be any one-piece garment consisting of a skirt in any length.
A plus of the pixie dress? Pixie dresses run the gamut from short to midi to maxi length, and can be worn as a formal or informal garment. The best way to wear a short pixie? With a rocking pair of knee length or thigh high boots. If you’re looking for a more dainty, demure look, go with a sandal or ballet slipper.
As for me, a staunch lover of the high heeled shoe, I would decorate a pixie dress by wearing a gorgeous 5 or 6 inch feminine heel! Let’s keep the exquisite style look real!

Pixie Fun Fact: In traditional regional lore, pixies are generally benign, mischievous, short of stature and attractively childlike. They are fond of dancing and gather outdoors in huge numbers to dance through the night. In modern times they are usually depicted with pointed ears, and are often wearing a green pixie outfit and pointed hat (think Tinkerbell)!
In modern use, the term pixie can be synonymous with fairies or sprites.
Pleasantly pretty in a pixie dress!

Pixie Fun Fact: The origin of the name ‘pixie’ is uncertain. Some have speculated the name comes from the Swedish dialectal ‘pyske’ meaning ‘wee little fairy’. Others have disputed this, claiming that the term pixie is Celtic in origin. Pixie mythology is believed to pre-date Christian presence in Britain.
Pixie Characteristics as Described in Folklore and Fiction:

  1. Pixies are often ill-clothed or naked.
  2. Some pixies are said to steal children or to lead travelers astray.
  3. Pixies bring blessings to those who are fond of them.
  4. Pixies are drawn to horses, riding them for pleasure and making tangled ringlets in the manes of the horses they ride.
  5. Pixies are great explorers, familiar with the caves of the ocean, the hidden sources of the streams and the recesses of the land.
  6. Some find pixies to have a human origin or to partake of human nature.

For lighthearted folklore and those who love mythology, stories of pixies will have you whistling Dixie!

Pixie Day is an old tradition which takes place annually in the East Devon town of Ottery St. Mary in the month of June. The day commemorates a legend of pixies being banished from the town to local caves known as the “Pixie’s Parlour.” The Pixie Day legend originates from the early days of Christianity, when a local bishop decided to build a church in Otteri (Ottery St. Mary), and commissioned a set of bells to come from Wales, and to be escorted by monks on their journey.
“I love the frilly, dainty dress you’re in. Do you sprinkle fairy dust?”
“I accent my dress with glitter, beads, and sparkles…bedazzle is a must!”
“Your dress is so light and airy, it looks as if you added wings you could fly away.”
“But I’m having so much fun at this party right here is where I want to stay.”
“You look so pleasantly appealing in a pixie…a mix of lady and little girl.”
“Stand up and dance with me…I’ll twirl the layered hem and give it a whirl!”
Pixie Dresses: Perfect feminine attire for women and girls!

Sun dresses are light, airy, beautiful, fun dresses! For a cool, comfortable garment that can still look dressy and elegant, the sun dress is a sure to win bet!
A dress is a frock or gown garment consisting of a skirt with an attached bodice (or a matching bodice that gives the effect of a one piece garment). A dress consists of a top piece that covers the torso and hangs down over the legs. A dress can be any one piece garment or skirt of any length.
During the lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer, sun dresses doll up and cool down all fashion divas.

Sun dresses look great at any length, from short to knee to calf to the ankles. Also, necklines of sun dresses vary any where from strapless, to halter, to spaghetti straps!
Sun Fun Fact: Most people view sunny summer days as days to go out and have fun. Perhaps a visit to the beach, a river vacation, or merely a barbeque in the backyard. But did you know the sun is the star at the center of the Solar System? The sun is a nearly perfect sphere of hot plasma, with internal connective motion that generates a magnetic field via a dynamo process. The sun is by far the most important source of energy for life on Earth. The sun’s diameter is about 109 times that of the Earth, and its mass is about 330,000 times that of Earth, accounting for roughly 99.86% of the total mass of the Solar System.
Pretty amazing, that sun! In my estimation, a sunny day is always a great one!

Sun dresses can be made to look completely casual, or accessorized to look almost formal. Great events to wear sun dresses are baby showers, birthday parties, lunch or dinner events, beachwear or just plain anywhere!
Dress Fun Fact: Beginning around 1915, hemlines for daytime dresses left the floor for good. For the next fifty years fashionable dresses became short (think the 1920s), then long (1930s), then shorter (the War Years with their restrictions of fabric), then long (the New Look).
Today, any dress length goes, from just below the buttocks to the hemline flowing over your toes!
Okay, this blue tasseled dress below isn’t categorized as a sun dress, but I had to show this dress as it is gorgeous/adorable all rolled into one! I would love to own this dress and just may try to find me one! Beautiful!

Now, back to dresses made to wear in the sizzling sun!

Sun Fun Fact: The English proper name ‘sun’ developed from Old English ‘sunne’ and may be related to ‘south’. The English weekday name ‘Sunday’ stems from Old English and is ultimately a result of Germanic interpretation of Latin ‘dies solis’, a translation of the Greek “hemera heliou’. The Latin name for sun (Sol) isn’t common in the general English language, however the adjectival form is the related word ‘solar’.
Display your solar power and fashion power when dressed in an airy, elegant sun dress, hour by hour!

Sun Fun Fact: For most people, the sun’s rays feels luxurious on the skin. Think sun worshipers who love to tan or lay out on the beach sand and soak up the sun. Solar deities and sun worship can be found throughout most of recorded history in various forms, including the Egyptian Ra, the Hindu Surya, the Japanese Amaterasu, the Germanic Sol, and the Aztec Tonatiuh, among others.
From at least the 4th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt, the sun was worshipped as the god Ra, portrayed as a falcon-headed divinity surmounted by the solar disk, and surrounded by a serpent.
Enjoy the sand and the surf by stepping out in a sensual, sassy sun dress and rule the fashion turf!

Sun Dress Fashion Tip: Sun dresses are a garment that radiate joy and look fun and youthful on any woman! Beautiful, breezy, whimsical fashion! Whatever your style, whatever your passion!
Sun Dresses: The long and short of it! Always a hit!

If you wake up in the morning and Mr. Sun is shining bright, slip into a pretty, dainty, comfy sun dress for a look and feel that’s right! You will be a radiant sight!
“I’m attending the opening of a great deli bistro and need to find something to wear.”
“Since the weather is a pleasant 80 degrees, how about a sun dress and a flower in your hair?”
“That’s a perfect idea. I won’t be overdressed but I’ll look dainty and demure.”
“The best dressed person at the party. A real looker for sure.”
“You don’t think I’ll look too dressy for a sandwich shop place?”
“Why do you care? All true fashion divas dress to fit their own taste!”
Sun Dresses: A standard summer attire for all girls and women!

It’s a given that colors can affect our moods. Colors appear to us in numerous forms. Man is able to perceive at least 2,000 different shades with the naked eye, and humans get 87% of our sensual impressions through a colored world.
One of the most striking colors for clothing is the neutral color of beige or nude. The other two colors categorized as neutral are white and brown. When dressing for an event, a day at the office or fun in the sun, beige/nude clothing is always in style and always works well.

Beige Fun Fact: The color beige offers some of the warmth of the color brown and some of the crisp coolness of the color white. Though beige can be a relaxing color, there are many ways to wear beige so that the garments don’t come across as dull or boring. Add color, bling and zing with bright or neon colored accessories. Perhaps necklaces, bracelets and rings!
Colors in clothing are important in our lives as they can directly influence our well-being and mood. Each of us has a range of colors that we enjoy and become comfortable wearing. If you dress in beige/nude often, good for you. If not, why not give the neutral color a try? You can always spice up an outfit with colored accessories, shoes, handbags and jewelry.

Halter tops and halter dresses (referred to as halternecks) are perfect garments to wear in the lazy, hazy, crazy and oh so hot days of summer!
A halterneck is a style of women’s clothing straps that run from the front of the garment around the back of the neck, and leaves most of the back uncovered. The name comes from livestock halters.
The halter style is used with swimsuits, which maximizes sun tan exposure on the back and minimizes tan lines. The halter style also looks cool, chic and gorgeous on tops and dresses, especially sun dresses.

Halter Top Fun Fact: A halter top is a type of sleeveless shirt similar to a tank top, but with straps being tied behind the neck. In another style of halter top, there is only one narrow strap behind the neck and a narrow strap behind the middle of the back, so that it is mostly backless. This design resembles many bikini tops, although it covers the chest more and may cover some or all of the abdomen at the front.
Neckline Fun Fact: The neckline is the top edge of a garment that surrounds the neck, especially the front view. Neckline also refers to the overall line between all the layers of clothing and the neck and shoulders of a person, ignoring the unseen garment. For each item of clothing worn above the waist, the neckline is primarily a style line and may be a boundary for further shaping of the upper edge of a garment with a collar, cowl, darts or pleats.
Wear a halterneck for a look and feel that is fashion sweet! Sweep the fashion world off its feet!

Halter Dress and Halter Top Fashion Tip: Most halter tops and halter dresses are made to wear braless, or come with a built in/sewn in bra. If you choose to wear a bra with a halterneck, the bra is generally strapless to avoid exposing the bra straps. However, as with all fashion, some people choose to wear bras with halternecks either in the same color or a different color as the garment to create a style effect.
With longer hair, the neck strap of a halterneck can be covered by the wearer’s hair, leaving the impression that nothing is holding up the dress or the top. With shorter hair, or for a look that is classy and sassy, wearing the hair in a bun or swept off the shoulders accentuates the stunning halter neckline!
Halt the presses! Break into summer in styling halter tops and halter dresses!

From casual tops, to dresses, to sun dresses, to evening gowns, halterneck clothing is like wearing a diamond on the town!
Dress Fun Fact: A dress (also known as a frock or gown) is a garment consisting of a skirt with an attached bodice, or a matching bodice giving the effect of a one-piece garment. A dress can also be a one-piece garment containing a skirt of any length. Dresses can be formal or informal, dressy or casual. The hemlines of dresses vary depending on the whims of fashion and the modesty or personal taste of the wearer.
Halter dresses are fun and whimsical and help to wipe away the day’s daily stresses.

Top Fun Fact: A top is an item of clothing that covers at least the chest, but which usually covers most of the upper human body between the neck and the waistline. The bottom or hem of tops can be as short as mid-torso (think darling crop tops), or as long as mid-length. Women’s tops are generally paired with skirts, pants or shorts. Tops may be worn loose or tight around the bust or waist, and may have sleeves or shoulder straps, spaghetti straps or noodle straps, or be strapless. The back may be covered or bare.
Halter tops make for a look that is elegant, chic, cool, youthful and are stylish and fun to wear!
Step into the hot days of summer in a sizzling, sensual, hot halterneck, if you dare!

Before the Victorian period, the word ‘dress’ referred to a general overall mode of attire for either men or women, as reflected today in such phrases as “evening dress”, “morning dress”, “traveling dress”, “full dress”, and so on, rather than to a specific garment. By the early 20th century, the words ‘gown’ and ‘frock’ became synonymous with “dress”, with ‘gown’ more often used for formal, heavy or full-length garments. A ‘frock’ or ‘dress’ generally refers to a lightweight, shorter or informal gown.
In the last few decades in the United States, “gown” has lost its general meaning of a woman’s garment in favor of the word “dress”.
Whether you are draped in a gown or a dress, when donned in a halterneck you’ll look and feel your smashing best!

Dress Fun Fact: Beginning around 1915, hemlines for daytime dresses left the floor. For the next fifty years, fashionable dresses became short (think the 1920s), then long (1930s), then shorter (the War Years put restrictions on fabric amounts), then long (the “New Look”).
Since the 1970s, no one dress type or dress length has dominated fashion, with short and ankle-length styles appearing side-by-side in fashion magazines and catalogs.
No matter the decade, no matter the years, halter tops and halter dresses deserve fashion shouts and cheers!

Polka dot materials are pleasant, playful and pretty. They are also “spot” on in current fashion!  Polka dot is a pattern consisting of an array of large filled circles (discs). Polka dots differentiate from a general spot pattern as polka dots are perfectly even in shape and size, while spots can be irregular in spacing and size (although many people refer to spotted garments as polka dotted).
Many modern polka dot prints include more randomly spaced, sized and colored dots. Polka dots became common on clothing in the late 19th century in the United Kingdom.
Polka dots will remain a garment rated number one until kingdom come!

Polka Dot Fun Fact: The polka dot pattern rarely appears in formal clothing contexts and is generally confined to a more playful attire such as bathing suits and lingerie. Polka dots also make a spotted splash on summery skirts, dresses, shorts and stockings, perfect to wear when running or walking!
The term ‘polka dot’ originated in popularity from the polka dance which was big at the time the polka dot pattern became fashionable. Traditionally polka dots are used in clothing of flamenco dancers and performers due to their stylish flair and festive fun vibration!
