It’s a given that colors can affect our moods. Colors appear to us in numerous forms. Man is able to perceive at least 2,000 different shades with the naked eye, and humans get 87% of our sensual impressions through a colored world.
One of the most striking colors for clothing is the neutral color of beige or nude. The other two colors categorized as neutral are white and brown. When dressing for an event, a day at the office or fun in the sun, beige/nude clothing is always in style and always works well.

Beige Fun Fact: The color beige offers some of the warmth of the color brown and some of the crisp coolness of the color white. Though beige can be a relaxing color, there are many ways to wear beige so that the garments don’t come across as dull or boring. Add color, bling and zing with bright or neon colored accessories. Perhaps necklaces, bracelets and rings!
Colors in clothing are important in our lives as they can directly influence our well-being and mood. Each of us has a range of colors that we enjoy and become comfortable wearing. If you dress in beige/nude often, good for you. If not, why not give the neutral color a try? You can always spice up an outfit with colored accessories, shoes, handbags and jewelry.

Color Fun Fact: It has been noted that colors can affect our health. A person’s perception of colors depends on several factors: shade; type of light (daylight or artificial – intense or dim); our general welfare; biological rhythms, etc.
Beige/Nude Fun Fact: The color beige is considered to denote dependability, flexibility and tends to run conservative. Beige is neutral, calming and relaxing. The attributes and meanings associated with the color beige can change based on other colors it accompanies.

Halter tops and halter dresses (referred to as halternecks) are perfect garments to wear in the lazy, hazy, crazy and oh so hot days of summer!
A halterneck is a style of women’s clothing straps that run from the front of the garment around the back of the neck, and leaves most of the back uncovered. The name comes from livestock halters.
The halter style is used with swimsuits, which maximizes sun tan exposure on the back and minimizes tan lines. The halter style also looks cool, chic and gorgeous on tops and dresses, especially sun dresses.

1702152_278442

Halter Top Fun Fact: A halter top is a type of sleeveless shirt similar to a tank top, but with straps being tied behind the neck. In another style of halter top, there is only one narrow strap behind the neck and a narrow strap behind the middle of the back, so that it is mostly backless. This design resembles many bikini tops, although it covers the chest more and may cover some or all of the abdomen at the front.
Neckline Fun Fact: The neckline is the top edge of a garment that surrounds the neck, especially the front view. Neckline also refers to the overall line between all the layers of clothing and the neck and shoulders of a person, ignoring the unseen garment. For each item of clothing worn above the waist, the neckline is primarily a style line and may be a boundary for further shaping of the upper edge of a garment with a collar, cowl, darts or pleats.
Wear a halterneck for a look and feel that is fashion sweet! Sweep the fashion world off its feet!

Halter Dress and Halter Top Fashion Tip: Most halter tops and halter dresses are made to wear braless, or come with a built in/sewn in bra. If you choose to wear a bra with a halterneck, the bra is generally strapless to avoid exposing the bra straps. However, as with all fashion, some people choose to wear bras with halternecks either in the same color or a different color as the garment to create a style effect.
With longer hair, the neck strap of a halterneck can be covered by the wearer’s hair, leaving the impression that nothing is holding up the dress or the top. With shorter hair, or for a look that is classy and sassy, wearing the hair in a bun or swept off the shoulders accentuates the stunning halter neckline!
Halt the presses! Break into summer in styling halter tops and halter dresses!

From casual tops, to dresses, to sun dresses, to evening gowns, halterneck clothing is like wearing a diamond on the town!
Dress Fun Fact: A dress (also known as a frock or gown) is a garment consisting of a skirt with an attached bodice, or a matching bodice giving the effect of a one-piece garment. A dress can also be a one-piece garment containing a skirt of any length. Dresses can be formal or informal, dressy or casual. The hemlines of dresses vary depending on the whims of fashion and the modesty or personal taste of the wearer.
Halter dresses are fun and whimsical and help to wipe away the day’s daily stresses.

Top Fun Fact: A top is an item of clothing that covers at least the chest, but which usually covers most of the upper human body between the neck and the waistline. The bottom or hem of tops can be as short as mid-torso (think darling crop tops), or as long as mid-length. Women’s tops are generally paired with skirts, pants or shorts. Tops may be worn loose or tight around the bust or waist, and may have sleeves or shoulder straps, spaghetti straps or noodle straps, or be strapless. The back may be covered or bare.
Halter tops make for a look that is elegant, chic, cool, youthful and are stylish and fun to wear!
Step into the hot days of summer in a sizzling, sensual, hot halterneck, if you dare!

Before the Victorian period, the word ‘dress’ referred to a general overall mode of attire for either men or women, as reflected today in such phrases as “evening dress”, “morning dress”, “traveling dress”, “full dress”, and so on, rather than to a specific garment. By the early 20th century, the words ‘gown’ and ‘frock’ became synonymous with “dress”, with ‘gown’ more often used for formal, heavy or full-length garments. A ‘frock’ or ‘dress’ generally refers to a lightweight, shorter or informal gown.
In the last few decades in the United States, “gown” has lost its general meaning of a woman’s garment in favor of the word “dress”.
Whether you are draped in a gown or a dress, when donned in a halterneck you’ll look and feel your smashing best!
main-qimg-600819d9c390b2012151018407af548d

Dress Fun Fact: Beginning around 1915, hemlines for daytime dresses left the floor. For the next fifty years, fashionable dresses became short (think the 1920s), then long (1930s), then shorter (the War Years put restrictions on fabric amounts), then long (the “New Look”).
Since the 1970s, no one dress type or dress length has dominated fashion, with short and ankle-length styles appearing side-by-side in fashion magazines and catalogs.
No matter the decade, no matter the years, halter tops and halter dresses deserve fashion shouts and cheers!

Polka dot materials are pleasant, playful and pretty. They are also “spot” on in current fashion!  Polka dot is a pattern consisting of an array of large filled circles (discs). Polka dots differentiate from a general spot pattern as polka dots are perfectly even in shape and size, while spots can be irregular in spacing and size (although many people refer to spotted garments as polka dotted).
Many modern polka dot prints include more randomly spaced, sized and colored dots. Polka dots became common on clothing in the late 19th century in the United Kingdom.
Polka dots will remain a garment rated number one until kingdom come!

Polka Dot Fun Fact: The polka dot pattern rarely appears in formal clothing contexts and is generally confined to a more playful attire such as bathing suits and lingerie. Polka dots also make a spotted splash on summery skirts, dresses, shorts and stockings, perfect to wear when running or walking!
The term ‘polka dot’ originated in popularity from the polka dance which was big at the time the polka dot pattern became fashionable. Traditionally polka dots are used in clothing of flamenco dancers and performers due to their stylish flair and festive fun vibration!

For a defining face that stands out and radiates, decorating the eyes is the key. If you choose to only accentuate one facial feature with cosmetics, go with the eyes. The second? Line and color your luscious lips.
When it comes to the eyes, no matter the color or shape, your color choice of cosmetics can make a big difference. The two main eye cosmetics for eyes that shine bright are mascara and eyeliner. If you wish to doll up your eyes with eye shadow, go for the overall look. But if you are toning down, colored mascara and colored eyeliner will do the trick!
Since eyes are the organs of the visual system, use your ornamental eyes to see the world!

Mascara Fun Fact: Mascara is a cosmetic commonly used to enhance the eyelashes. It may darken, thicken, lengthen and/or define the eyelashes and the eyes. Black and colored mascara comes in three forms – liquid, cake or cream – and modern mascara has various formulas.  Most all mascaras contain basic components of pigments, oils, waxes and preservatives.
The Collins English Dictionary defines mascara as, “a cosmetic substance for darkening, lengthening, curling, coloring and thickening the eyelashes, applied with a brush or a rod.”  Mascara can also be used to define the eyebrows, as well.

Eyeliner Fun Fact: Eyeliner is a cosmetic used to define the eyes. It is applied around the contours of the eyes to create a variety of aesthetic effects. Eyeliner is often worn directly above the top eyelashes and directly below the eyes.  Eyeliner was first used in Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia as a dark black line around the eyes. As early as 10,000 BC, Egyptians and Mo wore various cosmetics including eyeliner not only for aesthetics, but to protect the skin from the desert sun.
The characteristics of having heavily lined eyes has been frequently depicted in ancient Egyptian art. The Egyptians produced eyeliner with a variety of materials, including copper ore and antimony.
No matter the color or shape of your eyes, when wearing colored mascara and eyeliner, your mesmerizing eyes will be super sized!

Nancy Mangano’s Makeup Tip: Although I adore heavily made up eyes using black mascara and black eyeliner (a very dramatic effect), colored mascara and colored eyeliner is a beautiful, alluring, fun way to add variety and spice to your face that is oh so nice!
Aesthetic adornment is a cultural universal art and mascara and eyeliner are documented in Ancient Egypt beginning around 4000 BC. At this time, kohl was used to darken eyelashes, eyes and eyebrows. Through Egypt’s influence, kohl usage persisted in Babylonian, Greek and Roman Empires.
Colored mascara and colored eyeliner adds oomph, pizzazz and a pleasing effect to help your face shine brighter!

Eyeliner Fun Fact: Eyeliner is commonly used in a daily makeup routine to define the eyes or to create the look of a wider or smaller eye. Eyeliner can be placed in various parts of the eyes to create different looks with a winged eyeliner or tight lined at the waterline.
Eyeliner can be drawn above upper lashes or below lower lashes or both, even on the waterlines of your eyes. Eyeliner helps your lashes to look lush and full, while also drawing attention to the eyes, or enhancing or changing the eyes’ shape.
Gorgeous colors of colored eyeliner range from black, brown, gray, neon colors, primary colors, pastels, glittered colors and frosty golds and silvers! Is there a color you love? Use your favorite color of eyeliner to highlight your eyelashes both below and above!

If you truly want to bring out the magic and allure of your eyes, match your colored eyeliner and mascara to the color of your eyes. If you’re more bold and daring, mix and match to whatever color choices your prefer. Giver your eyes a special whirl!
Tight Lining Fun Fact: Tight lining is the use of eyeliner tight against the waterline under the eyelashes of the upper lid, and above the eyelashes of the lower lid. Due to the proximity of the membranes, and the surface of the eye itself, waterproof eyeliner is preferred. Tight lining is a technique that makes the eyelashes appear to start further back on the eyelid, making the lashes look longer. Gel eyeliner and a small angled brush may be used to create this look.
All eyes on you: the eye makeup guru!

Colorful-Eyeliner-And-Mascara
Eyeliner can be softly smudged or clearly defined. I prefer clearly defined for an edgy, dramatic, eye catching eye!
Five Main Types of Eyeliner:

  1. Liquid Eyeliner
  2. Powder Based Eye Pencil
  3. Wax Based Eye Pencil
  4. Kohl
  5. Gel Eyeliner

Traditional wax based eyeliners are made from about 20 components. About 50% by weight are waxes (Japan wax, fats, or related soft materials that easily glide onto the skin). Typical pigments include black iron oxides, as well as smaller amounts of titanium dioxide and Prussian blue.

Mascara Fun Fact: An increased demand for mascara has led to the development of the many formulas seen in the current market. Despite the many variations, all mascara formulas contain the same basic elements: pigmentation; oils and waxes. Water resistant mascaras have their basis in substances that rebuff water, like dodecane. Non water resistant mascaras have base ingredients that are water soluble.
Mascaras designed to lengthen or curl the eyelashes often contain nylon or rayon microfibers. Additionally, ceresin, gum tragacanth and methyl cellulose are regular ingredients added to act as stiffeners.

Mascara and Eyeliner Psychology Fun Fact: The use of mascara and eyeliner to mimic a youthful, childlike appearance exists in various cultures. The typical characteristics include soft cheeks, a round face, soft skin, upturned nose and short chin – often seen as ideal facial characteristics for women. Mascara pulls away the eyelashes from the rim of the eye, creating a doe-like illusion of larger, more open eyes.
No matter your face shape and facial features, you fashion divas, are lovely creatures!

Sure, bikinis and two piece bathing suits are alluring, sensual and a fashion staple of summer, pools, beaches and vacations. For those that dread slinking into two piece swimsuits, or for those of you that find one piece bathing suits more attractive, there are many one piece suits that are sexy as well as comfortable, darling and adorable.
Fit for the body, fit for the ocean…make a summer splash that is sure to last!
A one piece swimsuit is usually a skin tight garment that covers a female’s torso, except the back or upper chest. Many one piece suits are cut stylish and provocative, covering the crucial body parts, yet exposing a semblance of the stomach, back and ribcage.

Swimsuit Fun Fact: Swimwear is described by a number of names, including swimsuit, bathing suit, swimming costume, swimming suit, swimmers, swimming togs, bathers, cossies and swimming trunks.
The most common type of one piece swimsuit is the maillot, or tank suit, which resembles a sleeveless leotard or body suit. There are variants of the one piece bathing suit, including halter neck styles and plunge front swimsuits. Another innovation in one piece swimsuits is the body skin, which resembles a unitard or wetsuit.
One Piece Swimsuit Fun Fact: The modern one piece swimsuit made its appearance in the mid-1900s, when the style was widely described as a maillot. Its widespread acceptance is attributed to Australian swimmer Annette Kellerman. Kellerman marketed these bathing suits and the style became known as “the Annette Kellerman.”

Swimsuit Fun Fact: Rayon was used in the 1920s in the manufacture of the tight fitting swimsuits, but its durability, especially when wet, proved problematic, with jersey and silk also sometimes being used. In the 1930s, new materials were being developed and used in swimwear, particularly latex and nylon, and swimsuits gradually began hugging the body.
Sassy and classy: sexy one piece bathing suits!

During the 1920s and 1930s people began to shift from “taking in the water” to “taking in the sun,” and swimsuit designs shifted from functional considerations to incorporate more decorative features. By the 1930s, the necklines of women’s swimwear plunged at the back, sleeves disappeared and sides were cut away and tightened. With the development of new clothing materials, swimsuits began hugging the body, with shoulder straps that could be lowered for tanning.
Hollywood endorsed this new glamour with films such as Neptune’s Daughter, in which Esther Williams wore provocatively named costumes like ‘Double Entendre’ and ‘Honey Child’.
Create a stir when on the beach in a one piece swimsuit. Durable, attractive, comfortable and downright sensual to boot!

Most swimsuits in western culture leave the head, shoulders, arms and legs exposed. Women’s bathing suits generally cover at least the aereola and bottom half of the breasts, and many one piece suits have amazing cuts and styles as more material can be used to create an eye catching, alluring garment.
Bathing Suit Not So Fun Fact: Germs, bacteria and mold can grow very quickly on wet bathing suits. Medical professionals warn that wearing damp swimwear for long periods of time can cause a number of infections and rashes in children and adults.

t_xx2016_07_11_planet_blue39604_4
Whether you go to the beach for a swim, a good time, a walk or a run, dress up in a fancy, sassy, classy one piece bathing suit and soak up the glorious sun!
One Piece Bathing Suit Fun Fact: Wartime production during World War II required vast amounts of cotton, silk, nylon, wool, leather and rubber. In 1942 the United States War Production Board issued regulation L-85, cutting the use of natural fibers in clothing, and mandating a 10% reduction in the amount of fabric in women’s beachwear. To comply with the regulations, swimsuit manufacturers produced two piece swimsuits with bare midriffs, and dispensed with the skirt panels and other superfluous material.  Enter the two piece swimsuit!
Even with the popularity of the two piece bathing suit, the one piece swimsuit has held her ground and often times is the most dynamic, beautiful, stunning swimsuit around!

“I bought me the most gorgeous, flattering, fashionable one piece bathing suit today!”

Paisley prints look fun, exciting, colorful and whimsical. One might even describe paisley fabrics as magical and dreamy.
Paisley print pandemonium!
The Paisley pattern is a term for a design using the ‘buta’ or ‘botch’, a droplet-shaped vegetable motif of Persian origin. Buta is an almond-shaped ornament with a sharp-curved upper edge. Such designs became very popular in the West in the 18th and 19th centuries, following imports of post-Mughal versions of the design from India, especially in the form of Kashmir shawls, and were then imitated locally.

Resembling a twisted teardrop, the fig-shaped paisley is of Persian origin, but its western name derives from the town of Paisley, in West Scotland, a center for textiles where paisley designs were produced. Some design scholars believe it is the convergence of a stylized floral spray and a cypress tree: a Zoroastrian symbol of life and eternity.
Paisley Print Fun Fact: The floral motif was originated in the Sassanid Dynasty and later in the Safavid Dynasty of Persia (from 1501 to 1736), and was a major textile pattern in Iran during the Qajar and Pahlavi Dynasties. In these periods, the pattern was used to decorate royal regalia, crowns, and court garments, as well as textiles used by the general population.

Imports from the East India Company in the first half of the 17th century made paisley and other Indian patterns popular, and the Company was unable to import enough to meet the demand. Paisley was popular in the Baltic states between 1700 and 1800 and was thought to be used as a protective charm to ward off evil demons. Local manufacturers in Marseilles began to mass-produce the paisley patterns via early textile printing processes in 1640.
My oh my, when dressed in paisley prints you’ll get noticed walking by!

Paisley Park Fun Fact: Known around the world, the paisley pattern is a popular, colorful, youthful looking pattern. In addition to a fabulous fashion fabric, Paisley Park is known worldwide for music superstar Prince’s record label and recording studio, as well as living quarters.  Paisley Park was funded in part by Warner Bros. Records. It was started in 1985, following the success of a film and album Purple Rain. Paisley Park was opened to the public as a museum and memorial to Prince following his death on April 21, 2016.

Paisley Prints Fun Fact: Paisley fabrics/prints became identified with psychedelic style due to a resurgence in the pattern’s mainstream popularity leading up to the mid and late 1960s. Of particular note is the influence of The Beatles. The style was particularly popular during the Summer of Love 1967. Fender Guitars made a Pink Paisley version of their Telecaster guitar, by sticking paisley wallpaper onto the guitar bodies.
Create a fashion stint in a powerful paisley print!

Paisley Print Fun Fact: At the 2010 Winter Olympics, Azerbaijan’s team sported colorful paisley trousers. Paisley was also a favorite design element of architect Laurie Baker. He has made numerous drawings and collages of what he called ‘mango designs’. He also used to include the paisley shape in the buildings he designed.
The modern French words for paisley are boteh, cachemire and palme, palme being a reference to the palm tree, which along with the pine tree and cypress tree, is one of the traditional botanical motifs thought to have influenced the shape of the paisley element as it is now known.

Often psychedelic, always fun, dressing in paisley prints offers excitement and style for everyone!
Paisley Print Fun Fact: In addition to the loom-woven fabric, Paisley became a major site for the manufacturer of printed cotton and wool in the 19th century, according to the Scotland’s Paisley Museum and Art Gallery. The paisley pattern was being printed, rather than woven, on to other textiles, including cotton squares which were the precursors of the modern bandana. The key places of printing paisley were Britain and the Alsace region of France.
We tip our paisley hats off around the globe for paisley fashions of dresses, skirts, pantsuits, shorts, blazers, pajamas and robes!

For most high schoolers, May is the month of gearing up to study for finals, planning summer vacations and celebrating that the school year is coming to a close by attending the famous dance known as “prom.”
A prom is a semi-formal (black tie) dance or gathering of high school students. The prom is typically held near the end of the junior and senior year. Proms figure greatly in popular culture and are major events among high school students. The event is often a combined junior/senior dance.
A popular tradition at prom, besides exchanging corsages and boutonnieres, are formal, gorgeous, glorious dresses and gowns to be worn by the females.

7e0fe118c17d51168845565943e04fa3

Prom Fun Fact: At a prom, a Prom King and Prom Queen may be revealed. These are honorary titles awarded to students elected in a school-wide vote prior to the prom, and these titles are generally awarded to seniors. Other students may be honored with inclusion in a “Prom Court.” The Prom King and Prom Queen are often given crowns to wear. Members of the Prom Court may be given sashes to wear and photographed together.
In the early days of high school proms, the nighttime dance served a function similar to a debutante ball. Early proms were times of firsts: the first adult social event for teenagers; the first time taking the family car or fancy limousine out after dark; the first real dress up affair, etc., similar to a milestone event such as a First Holy Communion or a wedding.

Prom Fun Fact: Usage of the term ‘prom’ is becoming more common around the world and appears to be a colloquial and regional practice. Formal English usage suggests “Prom” is a noun and should be preceded by an article, although it is often not a practice. “Prom” is a shortened version of promenade.
Popular Prom Attire:

  1. Girls wear traditional ladies’ dresses or evening gowns and adorn themselves with fancy jewelry such as earrings and a necklace. Girls often wear perfume, makeup, lipstick and blush. Girls also wear a corsage (either wrist or pin-on) given to them by their prom dates. Many times girls have their hair professionally styled for their big night.
  2. Boys often dress in black or white formal wear, sometimes paired with ties or bow ties with vests, in some cases in colors matching their date’s dress. Boys are given matching boutonnieres to be worn on their lapels by their dates.

clarisse-prom-dress-2566-61
Prom Fun Fact: After the prom, parents or a community may host a “prom after-party” at a restaurant, entertainment venue or a student’s home. Other traditions often include trips to nearby attractions, such as amusement parks, regional or local parks, or family or rented vacation houses. Some of these post-prom events are chaperoned and some are unsupervised. Most after-prom events are held at the school, and involve bringing entertainment such as interactive games, artists and other entertainers to the school.
Always follow the golden rule: dress off the charts glam for the Prom held at school!

Prom Fun Fact: The concept of extending prom to homeschooled students has increased in recent years. Although some school districts in the United States and Canada allow homeschool students to attend prom in the school district where they reside, many homeschool groups also organize their own proms. Some states, such as Oregon, Ohio, Georgia, Tennessee and Michigan also host statewide homeschool proms, which any homeschool student is welcome to attend. Glorious!
Primped and poised for a perfect prom!

Although all of these prom dresses are beautiful, I am particularly fond of this off-the-shoulder, sleek dress in the baby doll pink. I love the dainty look, the silk fabric and the mermaid style cut! Stunning!

The custom of the high school prom exists in many parts of the world, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Africa, Asia, the Honduras, Peru, Mexico, Trinidad and Tobago and most Caribbean countries, Uruguay and many others.
Prom Fun Fact: While high school year books didn’t start covering proms and including prom pictures until the 1930s and 1940s, historians believe proms have existed in high schools as early as the 19th century. The prom has since taken on a larger-than-life meaning for high school students.
img-147326
landscape-1485895150-sev-013117-prom

As people gained more money and leisure time, proms have become more extravagant and elaborate. Junior and senior proms are often held at hotel ballrooms and country clubs, as opposed to the school gymnasium. Where arriving in a compact or standard car was once acceptable, luxury cars and limousines often transports high schoolers today. In some ways, the prom has become the pinnacle of high school events in a student’s life.
Be prom smart, dress the stylish, fashionable, gorgeous, sensational part!

Step into an evening of the high life…dress and dance away the stress and strife of homework and daily life.
“I find you to be extremely caring and nice.”
“I fit the stereotype of  a girl? Made of sugar and spice?”
“I would be honored  if you would accompany me to the Prom as my date.”
“I’m thrilled to accept your invitation. I’m excited and can hardly wait.”
“When you select your gown let me know the colors so we can match.”
“We’ll make a fabulous, fashionable pair. With you I have a great catch!”

Beach season equals bikini season. Love it or loathe it, warm summer days in the surf and sun are enjoyable and fun for everyone!
Swimwear is clothing designed to be worn by people engaging in water-based activity or water sports, such as swimming, diving, surfing or sun bathing. Although many types of bathing suits exist, a bikini (or two piece bathing suit) is one of the most popular.
A bikini is usually a women’s abbreviated two piece swimsuit with a bra type top for the chest and underwear cut below the naval. The basic design is simple: two triangles of fabric on top cover the women’s breasts and two triangles of fabric on the bottom cover the groin in front and the buttocks in back (unless you prefer to wear a thong bikini. Then all buns are out)! In a bikini or two piece bathing suit, the size of the bottom can range from full pelvic coverage to a revealing thong or G-string design.

Bathing Suit Fun Fact: Rayon was used in the 1920s in the manufacture of tight-fitting swimsuits, but its durability, especially when wet, proved problematic, with jersey and silk also being used. In the 1930s, new materials were being developed and used in swimwear, particularly latex and nylon, and swimsuits gradually began hugging the body.
The modern two piece bathing suit design first attracted public notice in Paris on July 5, 1946. French mechanical engineer Louis Reard introduced a design he named the ‘bikini’, taking the name from the Bikini Atoll in the Pacific Ocean. Four days earlier, the United States had initiated its first peace-time nuclear weapons test at Bikini Atoll as part of Operations Crossroads. Reard hoped his swimsuit’s revealing style would create an “explosive commercial and cultural reaction”, similar to the explosion at Bikini Atoll.  His hunch paid off, it did, big time!

Bathing Suit Fun Fact: Bathing suits are often lined with another layer of fabric incase the outer material becomes see through when wet. Most swimsuits in modern culture leave at least the head, shoulders, arms and legs exposed.
Bathing Suit Not So Fun Fact: Germs, bacteria and mold can grow very quickly on wet bathing suits. Medical professionals warn against sharing bathing suits with others.
When donned in a darling bathing suit of your own, you’ll stand out like no other! Beach bomb!

Bikini beach bonanza – two pieces of material never looked so good!
Bikini Fun Fact: Common glamour shots of popular actresses and models played a large part in bringing the bikini into mainstream fashion. During the 1950s, Hollywood stars such as Ava Gardner, Rita Hayworth, Lana Turner, Elizabeth Taylor, Esther Williams, Tina Louise, Betty Grable and Marilyn Monroe took advantage of the risqué publicity associated with the bikini by posing for photographs wearing the two piece bathing beauties. In Europe, 17-year-old Brigitte Bardot wore scanty bikinis in French films.

Bikini Fun Fact: By the 1960s the bikini caught on to mainstream fashion popularity, and by 1963, the movie Beach Party, starring Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon led a wave of films that made the bikini a pop-culture symbol. In 1965, it was reported in Time magazine that “65% of the young set had crossed over to wearing bikinis in public.”
Raquel Welch’s fur bikini in One Million Years B.C. (1966) gave the world the most iconic bikini shot of all time and the poster image became an iconic moment in cinema history.

Louis Reard’s company folded in 1988, four years after his death. By the end of the century, the bikini had become the most popular beachwear around the world. This global credit is given to the power of women more than the power of fashion.
Bikini Fun Fact: By the early 2000s, bikinis had become an $811 million business annually, according to the NPD Group, a consumer and retail information company, and had boosted spin-off services like bikini waxing and the sun tanning industries.

Although sarongs are worn around the world and denote different dress traditions, in North and South America, as well as Europe, sarongs are mainly worn as beach wear or as a cover-up over swimwear.
A sarong is often made of a thin, light fabric, often rayon, and may feature decorative fringe on both sides. The sarong may have ties, which are long thin straps of fabric which the wearer can tie together to prevent the wrap from falling down. Sarongs in the western culture are worn mostly by women as beach cover-ups. Western men who wear male sarongs are often influenced by the Scottish style men skirts known as kilts.
Summer days…sensational sarongs!

The American public is most familiar with the sarong for the dozens of motion pictures set in the South Seas, most of them romantic dramas made in the 1930s and 1940s. Dorothy Lamour is by far the actress most linked with the sarong, which was designed by Edith Head. Lamour was nicknamed “The Sarong Girl” by the press and wore a sarong on occasion in traditional films.

In addition to adding fashion and flair to any garment, an element of fringe (trim) adds a fun, festive look to clothing. Fringe is an ornamental textile trim applied to an edge of an item (clothing, drapes, flags, etc.).
Fringe originated as a way of preventing a cut piece of fabric from unraveling when a hemming wasn’t used. Several strands of weft threads would be removed, and the remaining warp threads would be twisted or braided together to prevent unraveling.
In the realm of fashion, fringe is a popular trend on the runway! Always stylish and in.
5075f48f336f1493cc31fa62c459c31a.jpg

Fringe Fun Fact: In modern fabrics, fringe is more commonly made separately and sewn on. Modern “add-on” fringe may consist of wool, silk, linen or narrow strips of leather. The use of fringe is ancient, and early fringes were generally made of unspun wool (rather than spun or twisted threads).
We often hear the term “runway” and “catwalk” when it comes to haute couture clothing, world wide fashion weeks, fashion shows, etc. So, for all fashion divas, what exactly does it mean when one refers to a runway show, strutting the catwalk, etc.?
Runway/Catwalk Fun Fact: In fashion, a runway, catwalk or ramp is a narrow, usually flat platform that runs into an auditorium or between sections of an outdoor seating area, used by models to demonstrate clothing and accessories during a fashion show. In fashion jargon, ‘what’s on the catwalk?’ or similar phrasing can refer to whatever is new and popular in fashion.
So, when displayed on the runway or catwalk, fringe is always in and a sure number one win!
Fringe-runway

nina-ricci-rtw-ss2013-runway-28_213823534814
There are many types of fringe. Particularly in Western Europe, as wealth and luxury items proliferated during the Renaissance, types of fringe began to assume commonly accepted names. Styles of fringe were clearly defined in England by at least the year 1688.
Popular Types of Fringe:

  1. Buillon Fringe: Twisted yarn that generally contains threads of silver and gold. The name derives from bullion hose, which had a twisted element at the top that resembled this type of fringe. Modern buillon fringe varies widely in texture and width, but generally is only 3 to 9 inches (7.6 to 22.9 cm) in length.
  2. Campaign Fringe: From the French word campane (meaning “bell”), consists of small, bell-like tassels on the end.
  3. Thread Fringe: Untwisted and unbraided loose warp threads.

Fashionable fringe to step out in!

Hot-Sale-Womens-Tassle-Tassel-font-b-Fringe-b-font-Faux-font-b-Suede-b-font

Runway/Catwalk Fun Fact: Although fringe clothing is always glammed up, never basic, a runway could be as basic as a narrow space between rows of chairs or a more elaborate set up with multiple catwalks.
Most runway shows are held indoors, for shelter against the weather, but there are times when runway shows are held outdoors. In the 2016 Paris Fashion Week, Chanel presented an elaborate setup by designing the hall as if it were an airport. The viewing guests sat as if they were awaiting their flights, while the models walked around the airport approaching ticket counters.
Get a first-class ticket to some of the loveliest clothes on the market. Purchase fringe garments and let the fringe swing and sway while you walk it!
Fringe clothing works splendidly for day or night dress. Always look your fashion best!

Fringe clothing gives off an appeal of fine elegance and downhome country chic all in one! Whether you dress in fringe for the flared effect of it, or for the casual, fun, youthful look of it, when dressed in fringe you’ll always look hip and in!
Runway/Catwalk Fun Fact: When a model scores an exclusive for a fashion label, it means the model has been selected to walk for that particular designer only. An exclusive contract often launches a model’s career and elevates their status in the fashion industry, guaranteeing them spots on the world’s best catwalks.
Strut yourself down the runway of life in fun, festive, flappable fringe!

Love the fringe that you’re dolled up in!
Fringe: Always a high fashion hit on the runway!
“I normally go for an office, business type of clothing look.”
“Why not change it up a bit and wear fancy fringe? You’ll get hooked.”
“Fringe garments do look elegant and chic when the fringe swings and sways.”
“Fringe dress works for all events, fun when the tassels move every which way.”
“I wonder if my fringe attire will make it look like I’m dressing for a club?”
“And you care why? Dress to suit your personal taste, make your closet a fashion hub!”
Fringe: Delicate, flapping tassels make the clothing fun and flashy to wear. If the fringe adds a party or club look to your stylish clothes, oh fashion diva, wear it if you dare!
