Leather jackets will always be in style! No fad fashion garment here!

Leather is a luxurious, luscious material known for its rich visual appeal, durability and flexibility. Leather is created by tanning animal rawhide and skin, often cattle hide. Leather can be produced at manufacturing scales ranging from cottage industry to heavy industry. While leather is used for vast amounts of clothing items (shoes, hats, jackets, pants, skirts, dresses, belts and gloves) leather jackets create a look and feel to the wearer that is rich, chic, hip and trendy.

For a jacket that is dazzling and always a hit, go for the lovely leather look.

Today, most real leather (not synthetic leather materials) is made of cattle skin, but many exceptions exist. Lamb and deerskin are used for soft leather in more expensive apparel. Deer and elk skin are widely used in work gloves and shoes. Pig skin, buffalo, goat, alligator, snake, ostrich, kangaroo, ox and yak skins are also used to make leather. Leather jackets provide an ultra-chic look while adding oomph and pizzazz to your overall appearance. There is something about leather garments that add a bit of sass and spice to your overall fashion ensemble. A true mix of naughty and nice.

Popular Types of Leather for Clothing:

  1.  Full-Grain: Leather that hasn’t been sanded, buffed or snuffed to remove imperfections on the surface of the hide.
  2. Top-Grain: Leather of the second highest quality. The ‘split’ layer has been separated away, making the leather thinner and more pliable than full-grain.
  3. Corrected-Grain: Any leather that has an artificial grain applied to its surface.
  4. Split: Leather created from the fibrous part of the hide left once the top-grain of the rawhide has been separated from the hide.
  5. Buckskin or Brained Leather: A tanning process that uses animal brains or other fatty materials to alter the leather. The result? A supple, suede-like hide.
  6. Patent Leather (My Favorite Type of Leather!): Leather that has been given a high-gloss finish. The final look? Shimmery and shiny!

Leather jackets: Stay warm and look cool!

Leather jackets look cool, daring and dressy in all colors of preference. The most popular color for leather clothing is black, but all colors work well, from bright bold blues to roaring reds to whimsical whites! Leather can be oiled to improve its water resistance. This currying process after tanning supplements the natural oils remaining in the leather itself, which can be washed out through repeated exposure to water. Russian leather was an important international trade good for centuries.

Frequent oiling of leather, with mink oil, neatsfoot oil, or a similar material, keeps the leather supple and improves its lifespan dramatically. You’ve probably heard of tanning leather. Tanning is a process that stabilizes the protein of the rawhide or skin because it doesn’t putrefy, making the leather suitable for a wide variety of end applications. The main difference between raw and tanned hides is that rawhides dry out to form a hard, inflexible material, while tanned material dries to a flexible form.

When making leather, crusting is a process that thins, retans and lubricates the leather. Crusting often includes a coloring operation. Chemicals added during crusting must be fixed in place. Crusting culminates with a drying and softening operation.

On those mild summer nights when you need a light wrap, wrap yourself in a lovely leather jacket and stay warm while looking cool!

Preparatory Stages Used for Tanning Leather:

  1. Preservation
  2. Soaking
  3. Liming
  4. Unhairing
  5. Fleshing
  6. Splitting
  7. Deliming
  8. Bating
  9. Degreasing
  10. Frizing
  11. Bleaching
  12. Pickling
  13. Depickling

Warm leather jackets make a cool style statement!

Whether waist length or long, with a fashionable leather jacket you can never go wrong!

Spring is here, and with that comes sunshine, flowers, longer days and of course, pastel colors. Pastel colors are lighter, softer, more muted shades of some of your favorite colors, most notably pink, green, yellow, lavender, orange and blue. Soft pastels make a big splash in the fashion world in the color of garments, shoes, purses and nail polishes!

Yes, pastel manicures and pedicures are popular, pretty, and pleasing in spring!

Nail art that makes a statement. Let your hands do the talking.

Nail art is fun, beautiful, creative, and makes you feel good. We should all pamper ourselves with anything fashion and beauty! Whether you prefer pastel shades, or bold colors, nail art adds pizzazz and glamour to all hands.

You agree that decorative nail art and professional manicures look and feel great, but not everybody has the time, money, or transportation to get to a nail salon. Do-it-yourself nails and manicures are available to help you get your much desired and deserved glam on!

For those of you that prefer the do-it-yourself method, here are a few fun and easy tips you can do to paint your own nails in gorgeous  shades:

  1. File your bare, clean nails into your desired shape.
  2. Soak your fingers in warm soapy water for a couple minutes to soften the cuticles.
  3. Rub cuticle cream into the cuticles of the nails.
  4. Use a Q-tip or nail stick to gently push back the cuticles.
  5. Wipe your nails with a damp cloth to ensure that you remove any oils or residues left from the cuticle cream. Pat the nails dry.
  6. Apply a clear base coat of polish to the bare nails and let them dry (this permits the polish to stick to the nails easier and prevents smudging).
  7. Paint your nails with the fingernail polish color(s) of choice. Try the three brush stroke rule: one stroke of polish down the center of the nail and one stroke to the left and right side of the nail.
  8. Once dry, apply a topcoat of clear polish. This will provide a lustrous shine and help seal the color, eliminating chips and divots.
  9. If desired, display your unique creativity by decorating away! You can use jewels, glitter, decals, various colors of polish, etc. to add glitz, glamour, and pizzazz to your nails and hands!

Let’s give a hand to the glamorous nail art with pretty, pleasing, feminine shades of pastel polish for a look that’s well, perfectly polished!

Decorated, manicured nails complement all outfits.  From playful decor to evening gown ready, nail ornaments offer fun and fashion galore!

Wow with you hands. Nail art is grand!

For every makeup mishap, there is a quick fix to have you looking cosmetic chic.

Makeup mistakes. We’ve all made them. We’re applying cosmetics in the morning and racing the clock to get out the door. Oh no! Too much blush, pesky mascara clumps, and no time to remove the makeup and start over. Luckily, you can reverse most makeup mistakes.

Clumpy Mascara Mishap: You just applied mascara, only to have clumps stick to your eyelashes. No problem. Let the mascara dry, then wipe your lashes with a Q-tip in the same direction you apply the mascara (from the lash line to the end of the lashes in an upward motion). Clumps will stick to the cotton, leaving you with lovely lashes.

Too Much Eyeshadow : You’ve applied your eyeshadow, but either the color is overpowering or you spread on more eyeshadow than you steroids uk planned. Fixable! Apply a small amount of petroleum jelly to a Q-tip or cotton ball and lightly wipe the area where you want to remove or tone down the eyeshadow. The untouched area will stay intact, but the petroleum jelly will wipe away the extra eyeshadow. If you merely wish to tone down the color, blot a dry tissue over the eyeshadow.

Smudged Eyeliner: Eyeliner is beautiful and brings out your eyes, but smudged eyeliner is easily noticeable. Using a thin makeup brush or Q-tip, wipe away the smudged areas, leaving you with a perfect line.

Too-Bold Eyebrows: Bold, full eyebrows are in, but you can go overboard with makeup, leaving your eyebrows looking too bushy. If you’ve used an eyebrow pencil or filler, use an eyebrow brush/comb and brush the hairs up, then down, then run the brush/comb over the entire brow. This will help to shape the brow more naturally and help the hair lay flat, eliminating bushy brows.

Too Much Blush: While a light application of blush can make you look cheery and youthful, too much blush looks clownish and unnatural. If your blush is too thick or the color is too dark once applied, soften the color by going over the area with a damp makeup sponge or makeup brush. This will remove excess blush, leaving the perfect amount to give you a rosy, healthy glow.

Overlined Lips: Lip liner works wonders for defining your lips, leaving you with a pretty pout. Too much lip liner makes you look like you’re trying to enlarge your lips. Rather than removing the liner and starting over, use a Q-tip to remove any liner that goes outside the lip line and thin out the drawn line at the same time.

Cosmetically made-up faces are beautiful and can help us look fabulous and flawless. Whether you prefer your makeup light or heavy, cosmetics add allure and glamour to your face.

Bring out all of your gorgeous features with marvelous makeup!

I’m a glamour girl by nature! I find full eyebrows, dark mascara eyelashes and popping colorful lipsticks not only pretty to look at, but fun to apply!

Don’t be afraid to experiment. For every cosmetic blunder, there’s a quick fix! Pretty soon you’ll be professional perfect!

Most people that hear the word makeover consider it a radical change in appearance. In the world of beauty and fashion, a makeover could mean a change in clothing, your hairstyle or cosmetics.

Let’s be honest! Beauty, health, and vitality matters. For many people, cosmetic makeovers, or simply wearing the right touch of makeup to keep you looking natural and rested, is an integral part of your daily routine. Even for those of you that prefer a makeup-free face, swiping your eyelashes with mascara and coating your lips with clear gloss or nude shades of lipstick is something you do every day.

Ooh la la! Makeup makeovers that make you all that!

Did you know that makeup can actually enhance and sculpt your facial features? Eyeshadow and eyeliner can add depth and dimension to your eyes, bright colored lipsticks can make your entire face stand out and rouge/blush can add a youthful, radiant glow to your face, as well as enhance your cheekbones. Make no bones about it! Cosmetic makeovers are admired and adored by all. Makeovers are so revered in today’s culture that they have become popular television subjects. Think Queer Eye, What Not to Wear, Extreme Makeover, MADE, and Ambush Makeover to name a few.

So much makeup. So much fun.

Beauty generally entails cultural perception or individual views of a person’s preference. Much like some people prefer chocolate ice cream and others prefer vanilla, some women adore wearing heavy makeup, while others go with light makeup or none at all. For those of you who prefer a natural look, only applying a light concealer and foundation in the morning can do wonders for the appearance of your skin, making you look rested, youthful and virtually makeup free. Personally, I love the glamour girl look. A complete cosmetic makeover can include concealer, foundation, eyeshadow, eyeliner, mascara, blush, eyebrow liner and a chic, colorful lipstick. I find the full makeup look to be especially beautiful when applied to perfection. Even false eyelashes can look like sheer heaven!

Bat your baby eyes and make them look twice their size simply by applying lots of heavy black mascara, or a set of long false eyelashes.

Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but makeup makeovers that make you look “all that” are loved worldwide. Everyone wants to look their very best every day as we go on our life journey and enjoy the ride!

Wear your favorite cosmetics everyday to take you to a realm of beauty where you’re a glamour winner all the way!

Charming cosmetic makeovers!

Magical makeup makeovers for the glamour girl in all of you!

Whether you call them purses, handbags, bags or totes, most women have a love affair with their bags. Purses originated from coin purses, which were small bags for holding coins. The item then advanced to larger sized bags, capable of carrying personal items. As with all fashion, what started out as a practical item turned into an ornamental aesthetic luxury, with the looks of the purse holding more weight than the items inside the bag.

This spring, why not step out in lovely splendor carrying a floral print bag?

Purses come in many shapes, sizes and materials, from soft fabrics to leather. Various styles of purses are the satchel, hobo, tote, clutch, coin, shoulder strap, pocketbook and pouch. I myself find satchel bags to be the most beautiful and efficient. I tend to favor smaller bags where I hold the handles, as opposed to slinging the bag over my shoulder or lower arm. For those who travel with lots of items, the tote is the perfect bag for you. Large, roomy and fashionable.

Floral purses highlight a solid color outfit to perfection. The colorful flowers bring sunshine to your monochrome toned clothing. Why not accessorize by wearing a floral hat that matches your purse? Floral pumps also look amazing on your feet.

Designer handbags are all the rage. Think of names such as Calvin Klein, Versace, Prada, Louis Vuitton, Coach, Guess and many more. Also, it is fashionable to have purses in many colors and styles, to mix and match your handbag with your outfit. Decorative purses serve more than one purpose!

Purses aren’t only for women. Many men once carried coin purses. During the 18th and 19th centuries, men’s trousers were sewn equipped with pockets, which then enabled men to carry coins and paper currency in small wallets, tucked in their pockets. Today, many men carry backpacks, gym bags and totes to hold their larger personal items.

Purses and handbags are a billion-dollar business. This spring why not splurge and treat yourself to a gorgeous, floral print handbag? Flowers and springtime weather go hand-in-hand. As all fashion buffs know, it’s the shoes and the purse that make the overall outfit!

Brighten your outfit and mood with festive, floral purses.

Flower power!

The fashion industry is filled with exciting events such as fashion weeks in LA, New York, and Paris, in recent years. What was once a bi-annual explosion of fashion collection has turned into an annual, much-anticipated staple in the industry. This is great news for fashionistas! Where once both seasoned and new designers displayed their collections for Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter twice yearly at Fashion Week, fashion fans can now get their fix on all year. While many notable events are held around the world, the “Big Four” takes place in New York, London, Milan, and Paris, in that order.

In January, fashionistas everywhere are treated to Pre-Fall collection shows, which are becoming a firm fixture on the fashion calendar. While brands put on shows, they aren’t the scaled-up extravaganzas like big fashion houses such as Gucci or Channel put on during Fashion Week. Pre-Fall is a chance to make an extra impact during the changeover from Spring/Summer to Fall/Winter, ensuring a commercial opportunity for brands and consumers throughout the year.

The months of February and March welcome in designers’ Fall/Winter collections for the current year. Fashion Week lasts approximately one week in each of the four major fashion cities (New York, London, Milan, Paris) and designers display their latest fashion lines to buyers, the media and the public. Shows started to feature garments that are available for sale immediately, online or in stores. Notable designers consist of Tom Ford, Gucci, Tommy Hilfiger, Donatella Versace and Dolce and Gabbana.

The month of May hooks fashionistas with the Resort collection shows. These shows display a line of inter-season or pre-season, ready-to-wear clothing produced by a fashion house or fashion brand. These shows are targeted at customers who are looking ahead to buying warm-weather designs suitable for summer and/or upcoming vacations. These clothing designs start appearing in stores in November. High fashion houses like Chanel, Dior, Gucci, Marc Jacobs, Giorgio Armani and Prada oftentimes also present Resort collections in their Fall/Winter fashion shows.

For more of your fashionista fix, the month of July offers Couture collection shows. Couture is a high-end fashion that is constructed by hand from start to finish, made from high-quality, expensive, often unusual fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail. The word couture refers to dressmaking, fashion, sewing and needlework. A true haute couture garment is made for an original client and tailored specifically for the wearer’s measurements and body stance. Couture garments truly are “tailor-made.”

A typical year in the fashion industry wraps up in September and October’s Fashion Week, where designers present their Spring/Summer collections for the upcoming year. In addition to buyers, designers and the public feasting their eyes on the gorgeous warm weather clothing lines, Fashion Week has become a highly anticipated social event, influencing trends and fads for the upcoming season. For all fashionistas who truly adore dress and style, Fashion Week is pure joy! The events are so festive, colorful and fun, do glamour gals and guys need a reason to attend? Designers, models, celebrities, buyers and more pack the fashion houses. Truly haute couture!

The fashion industry is a business revered worldwide, mixing clothing, creativity, style, and glamour. You wear the clothing, displaying your own unique signature and style.

Fashion week is never enough! Fashionistas need their fashion fix all year round! Dress in your favorite fashion week clothing and paint the town!

Get in on the St. Patrick’s Day celebration of fun. Green hair and green clothing for everyone!

On St. Patrick’s Day, March 17, it is customary to wear shamrocks, green clothing and/or green accessories. St. Patrick is said to have used the shamrock, a three-leaved plant, to explain the Holy Trinity to the Irish. How do you avoid being pinched on this fun Irish celebration? You wear green. This St. Patrick’s Day, step it up a notch and show up at your favorite festivity or celebration with green hair. Whether you prefer highlights, or an entire head of green hair, by adding green touches to your tresses you’ll stand out everywhere.

No matter your gender, no matter your age, green highlighted hair wears well on every head!

So how do you capture the allure of green hair highlights while keeping your hair healthy? There are 3 ways to add green shades to your hair:

  • Green Temporary Hair Mascara
  • Green Hair Chalk
  • Green Hair Dye

First, decide if you want green streaks, green highlights or a full head of green hair. For stripes and highlights, the temporary mascara and hair chalk will work well. On a dry head of hair, draw in the green shades where you prefer them to be. When you want to remove the glamorous green, merely washing your hair will do the trick.

To actually dye the hair, you can do this yourself at home. Style your hair as you normally do. Use a green colored bleach kit that you can purchase at beauty salons and drug stores. If you are adding green highlights, apply the dye from the middle of the hair shaft down to the ends. If  you want a complete head of gorgeous green hair, apply the dye to your hair as you would using any color.

Experiment with shades of dark green, forest green, mint,  lime green. light green, emerald green and more. For a more adventurous look, blend different shades of green together for a wow factor of so much more!

Although green hair is the perfect accessory to help celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, green hair works wonders everyday. Green streaks, pink streaks, blue streaks and even purple look hip, stylish and fun. Rainbow colored hair anyone?

Gorgeous green hair for St. Patrick’s Day fun!
