Plaid! If you are even remotely into fashion, or at least prefer to occasionally mix up the materials that make up your wardrobe, there is no denying that plaid is rad!
Plaid prints are downright darling!
A plaid is a pattern consisting of crossed horizontal and vertical bands in two or more colors in woven cloth! The pattern print can make for some colorful, fun, head turning clothing garments.
Plaid prints can be found in all types of women’s clothing, as well as many accessories. From plaid dresses, to plaid skirts, to plaid pants, to plaid shorts, to plaid jackets, to plaid purses, to plaid shoes, there is as much a variety of choice in plaid patterns as there are in the colors and fabrics that make up the plaid!
Plaid is a pattern that is so popular and known around the world that everyone conjures up an image when they hear the word plaid. You know what plaid is right away!
Common examples of plaid patterns include:

  1. Tartan – This is the pattern most commonly associated with plaid.
  2. Gingham and Border Tartan – Features bands of equal widths in a simple pattern similar to a checkered pattern.
  3. Tattersall (Cloth) – Features very wide bands alternating with very narrow bands of contrasting colors.
  4. Madras (Cloth) – A lightweight cotton fabric, typically with patterned texture and plaid design, also known as “Madrasi checks”.

Plaid material is associated with school girl uniforms (think of the adorable plaid, pleated skirts) and also, with men, in the form of the Scottish kilt! The kilt is a knee-length garment with pleats at the rear, originating in the traditional dress of men and boys in the Scottish Highlands of the 16th century.
Although the kilt is most often worn on formal occasions and at Highland games and sports events, it has also been adapted as an item of fashionable informal male clothing, returning to its roots as an everyday garment.
The world is mad for plaid!
Tips for Wearing Plaid:

  1. Mix a Variety of Plaid Materials. Perhaps a plaid flannel shirt would mix well with a more subdued, lighter tone of sheer cotton plaid shorts.
  2. Consider the Colors: For an eye catching plaid, find a plaid clothing item that mixes black with neon colors, or black with pastel colors. This contrast in colors is attractive!
  3. Wear Just One Plaid Garment: Wearing just one plaid item (shirt, dress, top, slacks, etc.) with solids is a great look. If your pants, your shoes, accessories, etc. are one same solid color, and you spice the outfit up with a vivid plaid blouse, top or blazer, your eye will be drawn to the plaid!

There is no doubt that people love their plaid prints!
If you don’t currently own any plaid clothing apparel, I would suggest investing in at least one item of plaid. Depending on the color selection, and the style and cut of the garment, plaid patterns are in fashion all year round.
Plaid dresses look extremely trendy when worn with opaque tights or stockings!
Plaid is a pattern that isn’t going away in fashion anytime soon! I predict never!
Sparkle up both your outfit and your mood with a tad of plaid!
After all, plaid isn’t only for school girls!

Cheating on your Partner? Don’t Get Caught!

Nancy Mangano’s novel, A Passion for Prying, delves into the world of private investigation!

Anaheim, CA (Vocus/PRWEB)

Adultery, immorality and…hilarity?

For Private Investigator Natalie North, these three are seldom separated in her experiences at I Pry, Inc. Now, as the target of a botched homicide, she’ll have to add murder and suicide to that list.

In A Passion for Prying, by criminal justice enthusiast Nancy Mangano, readers follow the sassy PI in her business of busting adulterous partners. And while no one can catch a cheating husband faster, Natalie is ready for a bigger challenge.

When a murder-suicide takes place at a nearby diner, Natalie finally has a chance to prove herself. But does she have what it takes? A Passion for Prying is a spicy read packed with witty humor and a touch of the risqué.

On a mission to solve the murder of this young couple, Natalie abandons her normally cautious habits and winds up in some trouble of her own. A few weeks into the case, she realizes she may be uncovering the plot behind her own murder.

Behind the scenes, Natalie is torn between Darren McAllister, the hotshot L.A. deputy district attorney, and Jett Jaso, the handsome Hollywood actor. Unable to choose, Natalie weaves an even deeper web of intrigue, danger and passion.

“I had so much fun writing this book and I want readers to have fun also. A Passion for Prying is a feel-good, fun read. It’s like eating a delicious, sinful hot fudge sundae – pure fun and indulgence,” says Mangano.

If you spend the majority of your days in an establishment that adheres to a certain dress code, your sense of creative fashion flair may have to be a bit toned down. Unless you wear an actual issued uniform, even if you’re expected to dress business appropriate, you can still add your own signature style to your business attire and weave some much revered glamour into your mode of dress!

Business meets glam! There is an in between!

If you either work for an employer that expects you to present a more businesslike image, or you are attending an event that calls for you to wear a more serious suit, there are ways to apply your makeup, accessorize your clothes and slip your feet into shoes that mix business with fashion bite and fashion bang!

In clothing, a suit is a set of garments made from the same cloth, usually consisting of a jacket and skirt and/or pants. Business suits originated in Britain as country wear, and these are the most common style of Western suits sold today.

Being the fashion buff that I am, business suits are not high on my list of clothing items that I prefer to wear. However, suits don’t have to be stuffy. As you can see from my picture below, If I am attending an event where a business suit is the appropriate article of clothing to wear, I will glamorize my makeup, offset the conservative garment with at least a 4 inch high heel and tend to wear my hair up, creating a more glam look.

Many business suits, whether your jacket or blazer is worn with a skirt or with pants, can take on a more feminine vibe merely by the shirt that you select to wear under the jacket. A ruffled blouse will create a more lighthearted look, whereas if you need to appear more serious, a button-up collared blouse will pull your business suit together.

Women’s suits come in a large variety of colors such as darks, pastels and gem colors. Your color selection and your choice of jewelry accessories can add a sparkle to your clothes that takes your appearance from the professional office look to a more unique, yet still businesslike, image.

The majority of suits are sold in three main ways:

  1. Bespoke – The garment is custom-made from a pattern created entirely from the customer’s measurements, giving a precise fit.
  2. Made to Measure – A pre-made pattern is modified to fit the customer, and a limited selection of options and fabrics are available.
  3. Ready-to-Wear – The customer can buy this suit straight off of the rack. This type of suit is generally the least expensive and the most common way to buy a suit.

Although women do wear neckties and bow ties with their business suits, a more popular neck decoration for females when wearing a suit is to wrap a fancy silk scarf or colorful scarf around your neck, or draped over your shoulders. This is another way to glamorize your business apparel while still radiating that you are almost all business, with a sprinkle of pleasure!

You shine!

In the wardrobe world today, business skirt suits are just as popular as business pants suits!

In addition to business suits, if you find that you need to dress modestly and sensibly, yet you don’t want to feel closed in by wearing a full suit, merely dressing in a nice skirt and a blouse, or a businesslike dress, will still give you the appearance of less flash, yet permit your femininity and originality to nudge through!

There are times when you may have to abide by someone else’s dress code, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t add your own personal style and pizzazz to your business attire!

For those of you who can meet business and glam somewhere in the middle, here is an outfit that allows you to remain playful and sensual, while still resonating a more business type look! This outfit reminds me of something that I would wear!

The collared blouse says take me seriously, the peek-a-boo slit in the back of the skirt shouts I know I look great and the sassy high heels say I’m high-spirited! Business, glam and confidence in one complete package! You can mix business with pleasure!

So even if you’re dressing for business in a stuffy or dressed down business suit, you can still suit yourself into high fashion forward style by glamorizing your blouse, or your makeup, or your shoes, or your accessories, or your hairstyle!

Better yet, release your inner goddess and decorate yourself completely around your suit!

Business suits don’t have to be boring!

Lots of women share a life-sustaining fetish for all types of shoes!
We change our shoes as much as we change our clothes, often times depending on our moods or what outfit ensemble we are draped in for the day. From high heels, to stilettos, to tennis shoes, to boots, to flats, to sandals, to moccasins, to platforms, to loafers, to slippers, to wedgies, women’s shoes are a billion dollar business that is here to stay!
Women are wild about their shoes. And one of the more popular types of feminine footwear is the wedge heeled shoe.
Women are wild about wedgies!
Wedge shoes, or wedgies, are shoes or boots with a sole in the form of a wedge, so that one piece of material, (rubber, plastic, cork, etc.) serves as both the sole of the shoe and the heel of the shoe. One consecutive strip of material runs along the entire bottom of the shoe, creating the illusion of a high heel, yet allowing the wearer to walk with their feet remaining straight and flat with the ground, as if walking in sneakers or flat soled shoes!
Wedgie shoes come in as many styles and colors as their high heeled competition! The perfect wedgie can be found that highlights splendidly with shorts and jeans, as well as fancier, more dressy wedgies that can be worn to jazz up mini skirts and dresses. There are even frilly, strappy sandal wedgies that would work amazingly well if worn with long dresses or evening gowns.
The wedge heel design dates back to ancient Greece. Wedgies for women were popularized by Salvatore Ferragamo, who introduced the design to the Italian market in the late 1930s. It wasn’t too long after this that wedge boots became an in demand shoe by women, and during the 1970s, an influx of wedgie boots hit the market. To date, wedge boots are a mainstream staple of women’s shoes.
Wearing wedged soled shoes puts less demand on the feet than their high heeled sister shoes do. When wearing a wedge sole, your feet remain even with the ground as you walk, eliminating the constant standing on your toes that women experience when wearing pumps or most high heeled shoes.
In Fashion According to Nancy Mangano, I don’t view wedge shoes with a 1/2 inch or 1 inch sole a true wedgie. To me, that width of a heel places the shoe in a flat or a sandal category. A true wedge shoe has a wedge sole of at least 2 inches in height, or more, with an emphasis on “or more”!  The higher the wedge heel, the wearer will still have an easy time walking, as you feel the same sensation of walking on a flat surface, except that your feet are a few inches off of the ground.
For those of you who wobble in high heels, the wedgie is your answer. Even in sky high wedge heels, you don’t walk rickety on your feet, as if you are going to topple over at any moment. Wedgie shoes provide more firm support for your feet as well as for your body!
So go sky high and gloriously glam in wedgie shoes!
With spring here and summer right around the corner, there are an array of wedge heeled shoes on the market that allow you to walk through the seasons with your feet adorned in colorful, season splendor!
Wedge heeled shoes look terrific on your feet, and accent any type of outfit that you are wearing. A wedge shoe works just as well for daytime wear as the comfortable, in vogue heel works for evening wear!
A popular sneaker/tennis shoe on the market today is the wedge sneaker! These shoes look as adorable on girls as they look on women. I rarely wear tennis shoes, but I would make an exception with the wedge sneaker! A pair of wedged heeled tennies will accent skinny jeans and capri pants as well as shorts and mini skirts!  These sneakers need to sneak a place into your closet pronto!
Providing that you are up for a possible PETA backlash, these animal prints growl footwear fashionista!
There is no denying that women are wild about their wedgies!
In addition to providing the same stylish, high fashion glamour to your fancy feet as high heels do, wedgies can add inches to your height and elongate the looks of you legs, mirroring high heeled shoes, without the discomfort of standing on your tippy toes all day!
Whether you’re walking through the park or you’re walking through the lobby of a five-star hotel, you will walk with ease and elegance when your fabulous feet are coated in wonderful wedgies.
No clodhopper shoes here please! I’ll take a sexy, wondrously wicked wedgie.
After all, we’re wild about wedgies!

As the longer days draw near and Spring will soon make way into Summer as seasons change, what always stays in style is wearing pastel colors at this time of year! This holds true with our makeup as well, and pastel eye shadows are a colorful, beautiful way to party up your eyes to glamorous perfection.
Pastel colors are made by having high value and a low to intermediate saturation level. Pastels are mixed from light and dark shades of any color that are made with the combination of a color pigment and a binder. Some popular pastel shades are pink, mauve, baby blue, lavender and pale yellow. Pastel colors are especially in vogue around the Easter season and through the end of summer.
In eye shadows, pastel colors can bring out the glory of your eyes in a way that is flattering and flirty. As with all makeup, your color selection will vary depending on your eye color and your skin tone, as well as with the color of clothes that you are wearing.
I have light blonde hair, an alabaster/porcelain skin tone and blue eyes. Since I am so fair, I prefer darker shades of eye shadow on my eyes to bring out my complexion. However, if I do wear a pastel eye shadow, I tend to go darker with my lipstick. Here is a picture of me wearing a pale pink wisp of eye shadow and a deep red lipstick.  This look is flattering without appearing overly made up. Perfect for springtime!
Pastel green and pastel blue eye shadows radiate glamour in my eyes! For those of you with medium to dark complexions, medium tone greens and blues will enhance your skin and bring out your eyes more stunningly than pale greens and lighter blues will.
The colors of the pastel family are usually described as soothing, soft, near neutral, washed out and desaturated. Pastels are merely lighter shades of your favorite colors!
If you do go with a pastel effect on your eyes, don’t be afraid to go bold! Pastel colors applied heavily still resonate with a softer, gentler visual than darker shades of the same colors!
Women with any skin tone look great in lavender, pink and variants of blue eye shadows. Purple has a way of enhancing all eye colors, causing the eyes to really shimmer and stand out. This is a great look for evening events and parties!
To help your eye shadow to last all day, use a primer and a setting spray to make any eye shadow or eye liner water and sweat resistant. After all of your eye makeup is in place, including your mascara, close you eyes and lightly spray the mist over your makeup. This primer can be found at most drug stores or beauty supply stores.
Pastel eye shadow colors make your eyes look as scrumptious as cotton candy, but much less sticky! Pastel eye shadow shades are not only gorgeous when applied to your eyes, but the colors of shadow add a touch of elegance and a playful party look to your pretty peepers!
And as I said, if you are particularly playful and daring and flirtatious, don’t be afraid to go bold! Every head in the room will turn as all eyes will on your whimsical, mesmerizing, fabulously made up eyes!
Pastel eye shadows are pretty and pleasing to the eye! Both the eyes that they are decorating, and the eyes that are staring into your sultry eyes!
Tip When Using Pastel Eye Shadows: If you want the pastel color to look stronger, wet your eye shadow brush first, and then sweep on the shadow!
Whatever your pastel color choice, pretty pastels will party up any eyes!
Pastels are perfect for all art projects, and making up your fantastic face with alluring shades of pastels is truly a creative art!
Blast your eyes to color extravagance and play up your peepers with knock-out shades of pastels!
The pastel painted eyes have it!

Today is an absolutely gorgeous day weather wise in Los Angeles and the NASCAR race is in full swing at the Fontana Auto Club Speedway in Southern California. This is the kind of day when you just want to go outside and feel the sunshine and the enormous energy. As the NASCAR drivers rev their engines, you can rev your mood by selecting one color to wear that will lift your spirits and recharge your batteries: Orange!
I am in a fun, lighthearted mood today, so I am going to keep this post light and vibrant. For the past two months, I have been on an orange kick! Not the edible fruit type of orange, but in the fashion realm, the color orange has been turning my head. Be it orange lipstick, clothes, handbags or nail polish, putting some orange in your life is like inviting in beams of sunny days! Just last week I painted my toenails and my fingernails in a spectacular shade of orange, and every time I looked at my hands or my feet, I was reminded of how much I love the color orange!
In clothes, orange personifies power and confidence!
As determined from numerous color studies, orange affects us physically by stimulating activity, stimulating our appetites and encouraging our socialization. On the color hue, orange is a warm color, along with red and yellow. The color orange also causes more controversy than any other color, so wearers of orange are bold, fierce and self-determined. When you think of the color orange or you see the color orange, you rarely experience neutral feelings. Orange is one of the strongest colors where you either love it or you hate it!
Orange drums up intense emotion!
Not only is orange a power color, but it is a color of healing. Studies show that the color orange stimulates enthusiasm and creativity, and we all know that the clothes that we select to drape our fabulous bodies in are an extension of our personality. Throughout your day, even if you never speak a word, you will be telling people who visually see you adorned in orange that you are fiery, fun and generous!
Orange is associated with the warmth of the sun, and who doesn’t relish time spent in the soothing, marvelous sunshine? The dynamic color of orange brings out vitality and endurance!
Orange Fun Fact: Orange is the color of the Sacral Chakra, also known as Svadhisthana. The chakra is located beneath the naval, close to the genitals. Opening the chakra will free fertility and inherent creativity. The brow chakra stimulates sexuality and the emotions.
No one can deny the color orange its life giving splendor!
When it comes to your wardrobe, decorating yourself in the color orange, you may bring on loads of luck. Lady luck’s color is orange!
Put some orange into your life when you want to:

  1. Spice things up when you feel that time is dragging.
  2. Become more involved in something.
  3. Increase your creativity.
  4. Lighten up when stresses overwhelm you.

What is there not to like about the color orange?
Wearing orange during times of stress, or shock, can help you to balance your emotions. Also, two character traits associated with the color orange are thoughtfulness and sincerity.
Orange is a dynamite color to wear, for sure!
All three of these dresses shout absolutely darling!
With the pants below, you say Nancy, I don’t see any orange!
That is correct, you don’t see any orange in the pants. But these pants are just too cute and deserve a nod. Now, this is where your clothes creativity can come into play. Imagine these pants worn with a great, bright orange blouse (tucked in to show the classic style of the pants), black patent leather pumps on your feet, orange and gold dangling bracelets on your wrist, an orange and black choker and black or orange large earrings. This would make for one exquisite outfit. And your finishing touch could be carrying an orange and black box purse or shoulder strap bag. We just took one knock-out pair of pants and built a vogue, trendy fashion ensemble from head to toe. All with the help of the exuberant color orange!
Glamour girl gorgeousness!
I’ll bet that these orange slices look just as tempting and inviting as your orange garments! Refreshing and healthy, just like you feel when you are wrapped wonderfully in orange!
Orange – it does a body good!
One more benefit of the color orange: orange is associated with being fun loving, talkative and trendy. How fun is all of that? So stay stylish and trendy dressed in fabulous orange!
Nothing rhymes with orange, but nothing feels better than occasionally dazzling yourself to brilliance covered in alluring orange!
Orange you glad that you want to wear orange? You sure do wear it well!

Hello everyone! I’m taking a fashion/style posting break today to continue to write my third novel, Fatal Forgiveness. I am coming up on three-quarters complete!  This novel is a vastly different story line and genre from my Natalie North series novels, A Passion for Prying and Murder Can Be Messy!

Fatal Forgiveness is what they would call in the literary and screenwriting world, an intense drama! I originally wrote the story as a feature film screenplay and I am now in the process of writing the same story in book format. We will someday see the story come to life as a novel and hopefully a feature film movie.

To ensure that Natalie North is never forgotten (as if I could forget her) here is a picture of me taking a short break from writing my third novel to, well, reread a few chapters of my first novel, A Passion for Prying.

However, Natalie North lives in my heart and my head, and for the readers of my Natalie North novels, I will be starting my third Natalie North book soon! I already know the premise for the third book in the Natalie North series, but the new characters haven’t introduced themselves to me yet! They will come to life as I write the story, and they will tell me who they are! As an author, I let my characters build themselves, and it is so much fun for me!  Every day writing is an adventure and my interesting characters take twists and turns that even surprise me! I am so excited to get back to writing all about Natalie North, and Norton North, and Darren McAllister, and Amy Cobb, and all of the other fun, crazy characters that Natalie mingles with from day to day, as they thoroughly entertain me as I write! And I am doubly glad that you are having fun with them also!

I hope that you are all enjoying your day (or evening) depending on your time zone! Thank you for all of your support and great feedback. I appreciate you all!

Most people who want to know the time of day rely on their wrist watches, or, more frequently, merely glance at their iPhones or their mobile phones. While both of these items suffice to let you know if you are running late, early or are precisely on time, a much more colorful way to find out the time is to look at your decorated fingers!
Let your ring watch do the time talking!
If I had to use one word to sum up a ring watch, that word would be “cool!” Ring watches are just too cool!
There’s an element of flashiness and playfulness with wearing ring watches that you just don’t get when you are wearing a standard wrist watch, pocket watch or relying on your cell phone to show you the time.
As with all jewelry, the selection of ring watches runs the gamut from cosmetic to real jewels, and from sporty to elegant. A person can find an ideal ring watch that speaks to them even more deeply than simply telling them the time. A ring watch can add oodles of class and character to your hands that radiates a spark of your personality!
Although wrist watches are the most common type of watch used today, a wrist watch can’t match the novelty conversation piece known as the ring watch!
I have had many ring watches throughout the years and I find them to be both fun to look at and enjoyable to wear. However, when adorning your finger with a ring watch, you need to remember to remove your watch anytime that you wash your hands or are immersing your hands in water!
In fashion, there is no set rule for how to wear a ring watch. Whether you choose to slip the watch onto your right hand or your left hand, your fingers or your thumbs, anything goes. Ring watches are ornamental timepieces in whatever mode of style that you prefer to wear them.
Although wrist watches evolved in the 17th century, they didn’t become extremely popular as fashion pieces until the 1920s. Before this, most watches were pocket watches and attached to a watch chain or a watch fob. And as with almost all practical items, women found a way to doll up the wrist watch and wear their watches around their feminine fingers!
Ring watches were born!
Another fun way to wear a ring watch is to attach the ring onto a chain, and dangle the darling timepiece around your neck. Similar to how we wore our friendship rings when we were “going steady” in junior high and/or high school. Reminisce time! As long as I’m off on a memory lane sidebar, remember when we would receive a friendship ring that was too big for our fingers, and rather than slide the coveted ring onto a chain, we would wrap the back of the ring with fuzzy angora material or scotch tape to size the ring to fit our dainty fingers? Priceless!
Okay, back to ring watches!
Wasn’t that a visual vicarious experience? And you aren’t even wearing the ring watch. Imagine how much more pleasing the watch would be to gaze at if one of these colorful, unique ring watches was jazzing up your fingers!
Time Telling Fun Fact: The study of timekeeping is known as horology.
I certainly am glad that there are people who study timekeeping and invent all of these fabulous ring watches, but with my busy schedule, I am content to let someone else do all of the work, while I merely lather my fingers in the gorgeous, time telling, finished product that is the ring watch!
Ring watches are amusing! Ring watches are trendy! Ring watches are the cat’s meow!
The next time that someone asks you for the time of day, you can hold up your finger and show off your glamorous ring watch, and let them check the time themselves. Unless of course you are wearing your fashion piece on your middle finger, at which time you would be wiser to glance down at your hand yourself and recite them the time, in your own sweet voice!
I think I’m going to go out tomorrow and buy me a new ring watch!  I’ll let my fingers do the time talking!
Ring watches! Let your watch be a ring! They’re the “in” thing!
